BCD160DN/BCD260DN: BCD160DN Frequency Loading Question

I just purchased the BCD160DN Digital Handheld Scanner. I currently have the Bearcat BC125AT, and have happily used that for years. The Bearcat BC125AT is loaded with close to the 500 frequency capacity. Does the BCDX60DN SS program software for the BCD160DN have a process that will import frequencies from another Uniden scanner?

I hope, I hope....

I don't know but I had BC125AT and used Butel's ARC125 to load and modify channels for railfanning to the 10 banks. Purchased the BCD160DN and associated Butel ARC260 to manage the same way. I opened both programs and did a copy (control C) and paste (control V) from ARC125 to ARC260. Not ideal, but it was better than starting from scratch.

The only import I see in Proscan for the BCDx60DN's is RadioReference Database.
But if you have Proscan and a BCDx60DN you can be up and running in just a matter of minutes. Been there done that with BCD160DN and BCD260DN both.

Thanks for the information! My BCD160DN has shipped so expect it in the next several days. I've already downloaded the BCDx60DN software. I'll download the Proscan demo version once I have the BCD160DN and go from there. I'll post how things go.

Thanks again

I just re-read your response, and I'll check out Butel's ARC125. Cut and paste would save plenty of time for me. Just trying to see what the work arounds are instead of manually plugging in hundreds of frequencies into the BCD160DN. Thanks

You can Copy & Paste data from a document or web page into ProScan using the Get Clipboard function.

FYI ARC125 will not program the BCD160DN, for the BCD160DN you need ARC260. ARC260 and ARC125 do share the same file format so files saved by ARC125 can be opened in ARC260.

If you use Unidens 125AT software already, left click and highlight the frequencies, alphas, PL's and directly paste into Unidens DN software(download link).
If you dont use it, install it and have it upload to the software.

If copy-paste doesn't work directly, use Excel and paste into that and copy-paste into the DN software.
If you dont have Excel, install Lebre office and use its base software.

Thanks for everyone's recommendations!! I definitely have some options now to move my BC125AT frequencies in an efficient way to my BCD160DN. Very much appreciated!!

Wow. I should have tried this to begin with. Just opened my old ARC125 file in ARC260 and it worked. No need to copy and past anything. When I first opened ARC260 and saw all the added fields in the spreadsheet that aren't in my ARC125 file I just figured I needed to start from scratch hence the cut and paste of the fields that are shared in both spreadsheets. The only thing I was capturing in the ARC125 file for railfanning was frequency, alpha tag, mode (NFM) and delay time (2 sec). Not even sure what all the other fields are given newness to scanning so I'll have to learn what they do and if I should be changing any settings and populating other fields.

Interesting. I use the Scan125 freeware to manage my BC125AT frequencies. That freeware lets you save a Windows text files of the frequencies that were loaded into the BC125AT. Your information....the ARC125 file works in the ARC260 software....seems to indicate that the BC125AT scanner and the BCD160DN scanner read input the same way.

Guess I'm thinking (hoping) that I can hook up my BC125AT to ProScan (or whichever software I decide to use), and save the BC125AT frequencies. I'll then hook up my BCD160DN to that same software and try to load the BC125AT frequencies onto it.

Don't know if that will work, but we'll see. Thanks for the information.

My x60's both have been tested on NXDN Conventional Repeater but passed audio just fine and NXDN Trunking and it passed audio on all. Now I am not saying it followed the NXDN Trunking Talkgroups it just passed all audio.

Next I tested them on DMR Conventional Repeater with Traffic on Slot 1 and Slot 2 and they passed audio. Next I tested them on DMR T3 System did not follow the Trunking Talkgroups but passed all Talkgroups on a 5 site 6 Slot System the System was very busy so it just jumped from Talkgroup to Talkgroup but they passed the audio just fine.

You might be seeing a Data Stream I do not know I am not there.
I have a local that uses a NXDN For a Data System.
