Well according to the poll, the opinions are very close. I can see reasons for both sides and everyone who has replied so far has very good points. I had a feature request for the forum here, just curious what others think about this. How about adding some sub-groups to the Uniden group for specific scanners. So instead of having to sift through pages and pages of posts on the Uniden forum, I could click on the BC246 group or the BC396...

Yeah, it was great! I didn't even see any sparks from the tireless wheels. I wonder if anyone here recorded any of the radio traffic from the airport? I'd like to hear the traffic from the pilot after takeoff when he reported the tires blowing. :P

You might have blown the front end on the radio by keying your marine radio. I had a similar experience by keying my ham radio being too close to my old BC245XLT and had to send it in for repair. If it's still under warranty, I'd definitely send it in and get it fixed. Good luck!

Thanks for the response!! It still seemed to work after the accident, but the BNC connector was all bent/pushed up. Figured I'd go ahead and get it fixed in case I want to sell it to fund a 396. :)

I recently sent in my BC246T for repair due to injuries sustained from an airbag impacting it. (ouch!!) It's finally on its way back to me and I was just curious about the parts that were replaced on it. According to the Uniden Repair status page, here's the vague list of parts that were used...

I was considering signing up for one of the incident paging networks such as IPN or CIFN. I'd like to find the one that covers IL (mainly Central IL) and then also does nationwide big events. Can anyone make any first-hand recommendations on this? I posted in the Illinois forum about this, but...
