• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

03 Control Head Volume Issue

Hello all,

We have one vehicle in our fleet that has an APX 7500 radio, and an 03 control head. The 03 control heads are pretty new to us, and we only have 2 of them, so I don't know a ton.

This radio I have one issue with, and I'm not sure if anyone has any thoughts - the volume, even when turned all the way down to "0", still plays at a pretty audible level. You can never turn the volume all the way down without turning the control head off.

I've sent the codeplug to our repair shop, and nothing jumps out at them. I've updated the firmware (I think we're now on 36.01.00), checked the settings recommended in some memo that the radio guys sent me. I don't have any ideas. I'm not even 1,000% sure this isn't normal operations, but I would *think* when it says "0", there should be no volume?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Check the audio settings in the radio profiles. See what the minimum volume is set to, and set it to 0 or the lowest value possible

Thanks guys! It's at 20. Of course, the car is not here today, so I can't be 100% sure it is fixed until tomorrow, but I kind of figured there was a setting somewhere. I'll update it tomorrow and I'm sure it will fix it!

I am really surprised that your "Radio Shop" didn't have a clue. Well, not really! LOL

I'm a little surprised, but not really. The guy that used to be their programming guru left like 18 months ago. He would have known for sure. But, I updated it last night and it works perfectly. Thanks guys!
