Yes Pennsylvania is a beautiful state, incredible, with some parts like the North West in Erie County and North Central in Tioga County with Pennsylvania's Grand Canyon.. is.. truly God's country.
Forgive me for drifting a bit off subject here, but if you're ever in the Scranton PA area, go 20 mi. NE to Nicholson and
visit the Tunkhannock Viaduct... Weapons-grade Awesome!

Yes it is absolutely awesome and yes I do want to be careful not to go OT, out of respect for the OP. This will be it on Pennsylvania stuff :)

I frequently went to Scranton while an old GF had to live there for a short while in relation to Steamtown National site.

I'm very familiar with Wyoming County of which Tunkhannock is the county seat. This is one of the top 40 "greatest places left" in the country.

I will post this brief description and then that's it on places in Pennsylvania. Sorry Roger, thanks for the latitude!

True dat... I've driven I80 from end to end in PA for decades. Most of the activity is on the east and
west ends; can be pretty quiet at times in Central. Hear occasional repeater IDs but very little chatter.
FWIW I went by "Twin-Stick" after the old-school Spicer 6+4 heavy truck transmission.

I do love the landscape across PA on that road, especially when the leaves are changing color early Fall!

Sounds like you're a trucker-many respects! 👍👍👍

Yep, I am a member of WARC, well run, professional ARC and we just had our ham fest at the Bucks County Community College annex in Bristol, it had been a couple of years because of the virus..

You are in a remote part of the state compared to my area even though we still have deer wandering around all over the place, hence the name Bucks County.

Used to leave the house in North Jersey early-0430'ish-to go to that hamfest and I loved that drive down through Bucks county. Left NJ in 04 and don't miss it. My wife wants to be back in expensive liberal lala land but not me, I love it here. I'm just a regular guy that fits in with everyone else that has 25 year old pickups 😁, not BMW's and Mercedes. Especially moneywise. Glad I'm out.

That's it now, I fear I hijacked it. 😜

I'm also in the Los Angeles area. I used to have one side of my radio parked on 146.520 and we used to enjoy some pleasant short QSO's or move off the frequency if we decided to talk longer. About 18 months ago the guy down by Knott's Berry Farm showed up and he's been a constant source of annoyance since. He can also get quite argumentative if he doesn't like your tone. Sounds like a lot of 12oz courage to me. The other guy, used to be on several local repeaters and constantly asked for radio checks. When you would answer him he would disappear, only to reappear ten minutes later to ask for a radio check again.

Unfortunately, ham radio operators are a reflection of our society. I get the impression that Mr. Farm is probably living on disability with nothing better to do all day and Mr. Saigon likely has some "challenges." Add to all this the fact that I also hear APRS bursts and the occasional people that think it's cleaver to do simplex on DMR, P25, D-Star or whatever and basically 146.520 has become the Channel 19 of today.

The group I hang out with have picked another simplex frequency that we all hang out on, but it's kind of sad. The old days of talking to new people seems to be going away and its being replaced by a plethora of the prepper, survivalist, off-road crowd, or boot leggers operating illegally. We have a bunch of Spanish speaking workers on 146.490 near me that seem to be working at the rail yards. Someone dialed up some radios for them and they likely have no idea what frequency they're on. I have lost faith in the FCC to do anything except collect fees and make questionable rulings. On the rare occasion that they actually do issue a fine, it seems it is more often than not, not collected and the offender just keeps on keeping on.

A neat thing about the radio frequencies is that nothing is permanent- what is there right now disappears the moment the transmission ceases. Its quite beautiful, really--- a natural system that constantly is flushing itself leaving not a trace of anything behind.
'Berry Farm" and 'Little Saigon' are annoyances now but they will pass into the void shortly- :) .

If what is on the air offends, find another frequency, another time, or another hobby. Come back to it in awhile and it will be flushed clean.

Sage advice. As you were reciting Shakespeare it came to mind, Fight Fire With Fire.

What if, during a brief lull, someone with enough juice (wattage) was to step on these nitwits and was to start reciting Macbeth, you don't have to worry about timing out and you can put your call letters in there every 10 minutes or so, is it really so much more offensive than what these two clowns are doing?

I know, I know, two wrongs don't make a right and I'm just sharing what came to mind. At least Frick won't be able to hear Frack and they will know they're being stepped on.

I know also that eventually as time passes they will go away. I just don't think they'll pass into the void "shortly" :) if only there was a way to give them a shove.

Oh geez, well at least we would know they wouldn't be coming back. It's right over the border of Wyoming in a county with no people, no Sheriff and no12 jurors of your peers. I know I said we should probably give them a shove but..

Unfortunately, both of these turds have a PO Box in the FCC database so you wouldn't know where to send the ranch truck.

I've been wondering if they are members of radio reference but if they were, I have a feeling we would know who they are.
