A search of the NTIA printout (unclas version) shows 163.3000 as being used by the National Weather Service for data in its RAMOS system and its EMWN (Emergency Managers Weather Information System) in several locations around the country. The NWS is also authorized to use it anywhere in the U.S. and possessions. The NTIA printout also mentions agreements with other federal agencies for their use of that frequency on a cxase by case basis.

Yep it sure is not NWS

I heard Encr. transmissions here. Nothing in the last 30 min.
They were on this freq last year also down in the Philly area. Same NAC. Haven't heard it in a while. Last time they used it for over a week.

Yeah actually three weeks in total ....... once they went ENC on the channel from the air - I posted the freq on the MD Mil group and tried to see how far the signal was reaching - so based on your location and the guys hearing the encrypted comms on the freq in MD and VA.....based on the orbit altitude they get good coverage. Probably more than they need or even want to have for a footprint.

Not likely USCG, but there have been other threads that mention Surv Ops with 163.3000 and $293

Nice find / shows what using the search features can find.

I looked around I did not see this as a USCG freq.
is this USCG? with N293 I thought it might be?
P25 enc. there was no RID, 73,s Marcy

Memory could be wrong, but I seem to remember 168.3 as once a "national" coordination freq. for spotting illegal cultivation sites and coordination with ground units. I feel sure I heard this used in NC some 20 years back for this purpose. Unlikely use right now. I do not assert this is the same at present, but just a little datum to add....

Every little bit helps the process.
