There where hooked that way for a cou;le of months. eventually all reception failed for about 48 hours. Not all reception was lost just the digital reception. I shut both scanners down for about a week. I then did a factory reset on both. Reception has slowly been returning. ITs still not 100%, but it's getting better, it has been an interesting three month. What type of damage may have been done. I'm still hoping it will eventually return to 100% Any insight or advice, other than "don't do it again"?

My bad, I was assuming we were talking speaker or headphone outputs.

I use the record out on the Uniden Scanners that way volume settings have no effect

I was talking about antenna cables that turned into talking about the audio cables. I was asking about antennas because of diminished reception that occurred after i tied my audio together. the have slowly started to receive again, still no as good a when they were new..

Can tying the audio togater as i did adversely effect the scanning reception as i have described, or.... should i be looking for something other issue with both 996's?
