This is my recent install on a 2005 Ford Explorer Limited. I was also assisted by Wes, fcfd988, with the first part of the install, and this would not have been possible without his expertise! The truck is my POV and I use it mostly to assist in my photography.

Equipment Installed:

Jotto Desk Contour Console
Motorola CDM1250 UHF (Console)
Motorola CDM1550LS+ 220mhz (Console)
Kenwood TK-7180 VHF (Console)
Pyramid SVR-200U UHF Repeater (Console)
Uniden BCD996T Scanner (Dash)
Motorola Maxtrac B7 800mhz (Rear ATCS MCP Radio)
Motorola Maxtrac B7 900mhz (Rear ATCS BCP Radio)
Motorola XTS Vehicle Charger
Motorola Astro Saber Vehicle Charger

The laptop is an Asus EeePC 900, which I am testing to see how well it does in a mobile environment before I decide if I want to mount a much larger Toughbook in the car. It is mounted to a custom mount that I built from a Panavise arm and Aluminum.

I apologize for the quality of the last two pictures, they were taken with a cell phone camera during the install process.

How hard was it to install the BCD996T in with the aftermarket head unit??? I have an '08 Mercury Mountaineer and I am looking to do the same thing. Can you tell me what method you used to secure it? Thanks.

Great installation!

They are both sitting in there and held in place by the Dash Trim. There isn't enough room for them to move forward or backward. There is plenty of room for two single-din radios.

What software is that on the laptop? Thanks.

Maybe I'm overlooking it, but is the Pyramid SVR-200U UHF Repeater in the console? And what exactly is that for? I think it's a mobile repeater, so does that mean you can relay one or several radios to a UHF handheld?

No, I don't have any pictures of the wiring. There is not much room to work with inside the smaller consoles, so neatness and planning is the key when it comes to doing the wiring.

Hey! Jake M.,

Glad to see you finally got that netbook mounted in there. As I've told you before in person, great setup. One of the most professional installs I have seen. You had the right idea and you got the right people to work on it with you. These pictures do no justice to sitting in the passenger's seat next to all of that. Keep it up. I've been out of town a lot and am heading out again soon but I'll be back next week, hope to see your latest updates to the setup then. As someone stated above, you're a great person and you are spoken of VERY highly. Stay safe out there on the streets and keep your head up.
