2008 Ford Explorer SSV build

So far, I have the radios that I want in, a Kenwood TK-7180 TK-8180, a Kenwood TM-V71a...

Nice! I currently have a NX-700 and a TM-V71a in my truck.

Hope you all enjoy and any comments, suggestions, questions are welcome!!

What DTMF mics are you using with your TK-X180's? Do the A-D keys generate DTMF?

My next truck I want to remote mount my NX-700 and TK-8180. The TM-V71a already is remote mounted.

If I can find some cheaper used NX-700/ 800's I'll grab them up and swap them out, but the 180 series does fine for now. The DTMF mics are just some $20 mics from ebay and the A-D keys do do DTMF, I basically have it programmed to be able to control most everything from the DTMF mic as well as the radio front itself.

Really, if you do not need NXDN capabilities, there is no reason to spend money on the NX-7/800. Other than NXDN, and different button labels they are almost the same. The only reason I have a NX-700 is it was already in inventory, and the Vertex radios we normally buy did not have the channel capacity of the NX-700.

The only thing that bugs me about this thread? It says Explorer in the title when it's clearly an Expedition. My OCD doesn't like that. Maybe a mod can edit?

Otherwise I'm anxious to follow this one...I'll just have to ignore the title the best I can! lol

I do believe he meant OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder), though I could be mistaken.

Hahaha, that's what I'm talking about. His OCD can not be that bad... It's not OCD until you put the letters in the correct order... CDO(A,B,C,D,E,F ect.)

Yeah, that was my bad from when I started it and there's no way for me to change it, mods??

I think if you click report (the triangle at the right) on the first post and request they change Explorer to Expedition one of them will see the report and can change it. Otherwise they may not see it in this thread, unless one is just happening through at leisure.

BCT15X Faceplate

Well, after 5 faithful

These are three basic photos, I'm hoping to chronicle the buildout on here as it happens. So far, I have the radios that I want in, a Kenwood TK-7180 TK-8180, a Kenwood TM-V71a, and a Uniden BCT15X, maybe more in the future :) I'm going with Troy products and have already ordered faceplates and am now in the process of choosing a console that will work well for what I want.

I've got a Troy console and I just got a Uniden BCT15x and I need a faceplate. After looking at the listed dimensions for the scanner vs. the dimensions for faceplates on Troy's website, I have no idea which one to get. What faceplate did you get for it? Do you have any pictures of it in your console? Thanks!

First off, looks great. Excited to see the Troy install pictures.

@nathandclements The part you need is FP-UBCD996T. The 996's and the 15's are the same exact size.

Where did you order your Troy products?

Got the order from Troy in and have it installed, photos are uploading weirdly and slowly but I'll try to get one of the final install sometime today. These two are the order from troy and the floor plate installed in the rig.
