I listed all those above in a ZONE on the G5 pager and heard nothing from 11:30am to 10:00pm in Elgin monitoring all 3 Starcom21 SITES Kane/Cook/DuPage on Monday. Nothing heard so far except the regular SElgin 11001 traffic. Finding new stuff is the fun of it though. ;0)

I’ve been trying to locate the actual location for the Streator SC 21 1-042 site. The FCC license WPTZ798 is a generic license for the public safety 700 MHz spectrum allocated for Illinois. I’ve tried to view every tower in LaSalle and Livingston county trying to find the Streator site location with no luck.

I noticed in the past SC 21 sites have been installed on top of tall buildings and the OSF hospital at 111 Spring Street in Streator might be a possible location. I used an antenna search website and have still been unable to identify the Streator SC 21 site 1-042 location. The OSF hospital has licenses for VHF and UHF on top of their building but I can’t see the actual antennas from google maps/earth satellite view.

I have traveled on I-39 in LaSalle and Livingston counties and the Streator 700 MHz site 1-042 site is still active.

The GPS coordinates for Site 1-042 41.1208668 -88.835352 go to N Bloomington and Main Street in downtown Streator. I can see no towers which appear to be the correct SC 21 equipment close to that location.
Anyone members have any ideas?

I thought the Streator* IL 700Mhz Starcom21 SITE was at the IDOT TOWER* wherever that is? I saw that listed in the MAP by clicking the frequency listing for Starcom21 Steator SITE. Went through there last week with the Unication G5 and Pro96 all the way to Decatur IL and back to Chi-RAQ area.

I’ve gone through all the Illinois FCC licenses and haven’t found an IDOT tower in the vicinity of Streator. There is a very small yard near Streator but I can’t find any tower which could be in use by SC 21. I can’t find any licensed State of Illinois towers in the close proximity of Streator which might be the site 1-042. I have mapped the other SC 21 sites in that part of Illinois and it seems plausible there should be a site within a few miles of Streator.

I thought another member might be able to search the site frequencies for more specific information. With the generic 700 MHz license I don’t know how else to obtain any additional information from the FCC web site.

Now I want to know where it is too. Can't see it on top St.Mary's Hospital there on Google Maps/Earth

I searched RR by reviewing all the listed FCC licenses in LaSalle and Livingston Counties. I’ve searched all the business FCC licenses. It is pretty common to use silos for large grain operations but I can’t tell if any of locations have also been used for SC 21 site 1-042. Water towers are commonly used but I haven’t seen anything visible around Streator from the Google map satellite view.

I’ll keep looking maybe I can find it.

I found it by accident once when I had close call on. I don't remember the specific location but it was on a 2 lane road east/northeast of town. It's one of the "standard" dual (one pointing up, one down) white gain 700/800 MHz StarCom site antennas. Let me see if I can find it on a map

MikeyC, I went ahead and submitted the information you provided along with the GPS coordinates so the DB can be updated. Thanks again for your assistance!

I'm seeing the brand new TG #34104 (Crystal Lake PD Enc) come up in SDRTrunk this morning as Priority #4 Encrypted circuit. Many hits . They forgot to send me a notice (I guess). The scanner is sitting on the old VHF 155.7000 and it is strangely silent. Was there yesterday. Wake me when this nightmare is over . :(

Recently Awesomeman92 reported that Tri-Com in Kane CO had talkgroups detected. I have set up a zone on my G5 pager to monitor these exclusively - 11002 11003 11004** 11005 11010 11011 11013 11015 11021 11024 11030 11033 11041 11044 11045 11048 11050 11054 11094.
Since those were reported, I've heard no voice traffic, just 2 TONES sounding like a FIRE call tone on 11004 .. no announcement came after either one. Since the G5 ignores ENC .... I checked Tri-Com fire analog to see if a Fire call was in progress, nothing. Just wondering if anyone else has heard voice on these talk-groups? I've listened through SITEs 149 and 126 both.

Anyone live close enough to (or travel through) East Dubuque who could check out STARCOM21 Site 138 there? A fellow scanner hobbyist was kind enough to point out at least one error (and possible frequency omissions?) for SC21 Site 138 there:

"I have been going through StarCom Zone 1 site to program my 536 and came across a possible discrepancy on Site 138 East Dubuque, JoDaviess County. R/R (database) frequencies for this site:
851.4000, 851.4000c, 851.9250, 852.4500, 853.8375, 853.8625
The license for this site, WQDB985 has the following:
851.4000, 851.9250, 852.4500, 852.9750, 853.4000, 853.8375, 853.8625"

As you can see, 851.400 is listed in the database twice for Site 138. Freqs covered by the license (but not listed for the Site) are 852.975 and 853.400. Would anyone be able to check out Site 138 and advise which freqs are active there?

Thanks......

You’ll notice the address for 5338 American Rd is not correct for the location for the site 1-038 listed in the database.

The 5338 American Rd. is an address very close to a tower used in the Rockford simulcast system. The coordinates I located for the East Dubuque site are (42.4764780, -90.6179040), which is on Donna’s drive. There are two towers on Donna’s Drive and I believe the east triangular shaped free standing tower is the SC site 1-038. The pole antenna at that location appears to be a cell tower.

I haven’t been to E Dubuque in a couple of years. I think I took my BCD996XT to E Dubuque once and the RR listed control channel was correct because I was picking up SC 21 traffic.

District 15-Oak Brook has been transmitting ISPERN messages on TGID 9051...the District-Chicago Priority/ISPERN talk group. Use to only hear them dispatch priority messages on their North & South Dispatch talk groups.

D15 Oak Brook has also been patching all these ISPERN messages too now, I see the data come up as a patch of TG 9051 with TG 2036 tied, plus I receive it on the old VHF 155.4750 at the same time. Then they repeat each message separate on North & South dispatch. We get to hear more of this then the patrols probably do but they have the MDTs for the flash updates like this also.

I've yet to hear any activity on TG 2036 from site 1-002. I have it programmed as D15-Priority and all I hear is announcements on their patrol talk groups.

I only see it come up in SDRTrunk as the patch in the data fields, (with both listed), but I don't recall actually seeing it come up or hearing it on the scanners as TG 2036 Ispern. Always just on TG 9051 on the scanners. Must be a bug. Also, I rarely hear live Ispern messages for Lake County on SC21 which would be TG 33136 but I don't monitor the Lake county site much. I hear Lake county's Ispern on 155.4750 though. D15 will relay the message on North patrol.

During the Woodfield mall crisis, ISP was using TG 9009 (DChi Metro E) all day today and ISP dispatch referred to it as Chicago Tac at some times. I think they're getting the hang of using SC21 now. Was in the clear too.
