Still lots of environmental noise on 39MHz hanging the thing up, we'll see if it goes away eventually. 42MHz has been in the scan list for 7 days now with very, very little heard.

You're welcome sir. What's simplex interconnect? Asking for a friend.
You can configure a phone patch to operate on a simplex channel where the phone party and the mobile party are entirely simplex as opposed to duplex repeater/ half duplex mobile. This puts a bit of effort on the phone party to say "over" so that the mobile can anticipate the base station dekeying. The phone party is on VOX. When I was FTR at Motorola, a couple of these got sold to rural customers and they did not like them.

You're welcome sir. What's simplex interconnect? Asking for a friend.
So they are at least licensed to connect their base station to the telephone system to make phone calls. Back in the day, it was somewhat popular for "simplex interconnect" devices to be attached to base stations such that mobile units could make phone calls, or folks could call in to the base station and talk over the air. Being simplex, it was usually VOX controlled, and while it wasn't perfect, it got the job done.

Most interconnects (including the ones I maintain) are duplex, meaning they are on a repeater and you key over the caller to talk, basically like a normal phone call, just with a PTT needed on the radio end to talk. With the simplex version, you had to wait for the phone side to stop talking, which then unkeys the base station.

Clunky.

Edit: Didn't see the response from @RFI-EMI-GUY until after my post. Anyway there's the verbose answer.

Thank you sir. I remember the mall security in my hometown had something like that back in the 80s.
