500 MHz Systems

I have just seen my first 500 MHz system. I didn't even know anyone had one. Is this something relatively new or just that I haven't see it yet? Was trying to help someone using a Pro-96 trying to monitor Ocean Co. New Jersy. See it was a 500 MHz system and they are both LTR and Motorola trunked systems. Any scanners capible of monitoring this yet? Man this stuff changes fast!

470-512 MHz is the UHF-T band. (the T stands for TV) It isn't new. It is only used in a few areas. See Note (1) at the bottom of this page: Television Frequencies - The RadioReference Wiki

I think LAPD / LAFD, CA uses the stuff (500 MHz, Conventional though)
