780 is gone

Does anyone know of anywhere that still has the Uniden 780 base scanner? I know that it is discontinued but i still got my hopes up that there still may be one out there somewhere. :!:

Well, there is a UBC-780 for sale here in Canada ,see this link

Those are Canadian dollars BTW, so the price is actually more
like $450 US

But, there are some obstacles for you getting it. They
won't ship to the US as it is not cell-blocked.

Do you have any Canadian friends or relatives that could pick it up
for you?
Or you could drive up and get it yourself, but then have to declare it
at Customs. I don't know what to advise you, but these are things you
could consider.
Of course there is always good ol' e-bay as well.

Why get a 780 when you can get BC785D without a card for $20-30 less. Besides being cheaper you will get 500 more channels for a total of 1000 with the rest of the specs being almost identical.

The 780's display shows much more information. It is nice to see things like the active banks while it is sitting on a channel or the CTCSS/DCS. I have a BC296D with the same kind of display and its annoying to have to keep hitting scan to see which banks are on. If you don't need digital or more than 500 banks the 780 preferrable.
