Can anybody clue me in on how this thing works? Would it work for a 800mhz TRS? How about conventional VHF or UHF? Anybody have one? Thanks in advance!

Amazon.com: Cell Ranger Stix 8811960A Plug and Talk Dual Band In-Vehicle Wireless Portable Amplifier: Electronics

$25 on ebay if anyone wants to gamble and write a review!

Extremely NOT reccomended.

This would have the effect of overwelming your 800Mhz reception and swamping
your receiver whenever you get near a cell site or any tower site with 800Mhz
transmitters. Simply getting a better antenna would help your 800Mhz receive
capability much better. A receive preamp should always be your last resort.

Rog that- kinda what I was thinking to. I'm thinking of throwing one of these in my work truck though for improved cell coverage. I wouldn't think it would mess with VHF conventional right?

Many of these Boosters are now banned by the FCC
http://www.fcc.gov/document/use-and-design-signal-boosters-report-and-order

Only the ones issues/registered by the Carrier are allowed.

Call your Carrier and complain about the coverage. You will need an internet connect to use a Legit one.
