OK, I'm lost. I see the default is 2 seconds, but I want to try 0 as recommended. Read the updated "easier to read" stuff. I've gone to menus, settings. I can't find the option to change it. Any help in laymans terms would be great. Thanks from a totally green horn on this stuff. I'm learning though as I keep reading. Thanks agian for a super helpful site.

Scan Delay and Hold Time are 2 different items. Scan delay is the amount of time a frequency in a conventional system or a talkgroup in a trunked system will wait for a reply after a transmission ends. The normal scan delay time is 2 seconds. Hold time for a site is usually 0. To change the hold time of a site in a trunked system, do the following: Press MENU > Program System should be displayed > Press E > Scroll to the trunked system where you want to change the site > Press E > Scroll to Edit Site > Press E > Select the site > Press E > Scroll to Set Hold Time > Press E > Using the keypad, enter the number of seconds > Press E > Press SCAN/SEARCH to exit the menus. A conventional system does not have sites. The amount of time a conventional system scans is determined by the number of frequencies. If it just flashes on the screen and you want to see its name, you can change the hold time to 1 second. To change the hold time of a conventional system, do the following: Press MENU > Program System should be displayed > Press E > Scroll to the conventional system where you want to change the Hold Time > Press E > Scroll to Edit Sys Option > Press E > Scroll to Set Hold Time > Press E > Using the keypad, enter the number of seconds > Press E > Press SCAN/SEARCH to exit the menus.
