Hi,

I have a neat idea for an application (I have a Pro-106) and being a programmer, the skills to pull it off.

I have the 20-047 programming cable (which I use with PSR500). Can anyone point me towards any documentation for how to talk to scanners such as the Pro-106 via Windows based programming? Specifically, what is the protocol used? Command set? Etc.

Clearly somebody knows this stuff as evidenced by the many scanner programming tools out there.

Thank you

You can get the protocol for the PSR-500 family from GRE America. You may have to sign an NDA.

However, if you're a programmer and have such skills, it's pretty trivial to figure out the protocol for current GRE scanners. After all, some (one?) of us did it before GRE ever started releasing such info.

By "smartass" you were referring to yourself in jest, right?

You have a problem. That was completely uncalled for.

Which part? Where I pointed you to GRE America to get the protocol info, or where I explicitly acknowledged that I was being a smart-ass (i.e. the statement was not to be taken too seriously)?

It maybe just in "fun" but i would like to say "DonS" has NEVER been a smarta** and never will, he has helped SO many scanner geeks with his great software and answers to many questions i personally am very grateful to his participation in the GRE family and on these boards!!....
