Found some interesting news when looking at the county EMA site.

"Mr. Libby stated that he had the opportunity to sit down with the University of Akron to discuss their concerns regarding joining the Summit County 800 MHz Regional Radio System. He stated that he was pleased to announce that the University of Akron and Northfield Center applied for the county’s Homeland Security grant with the Dept. of Public Safety in order to join the Summit County 800 MHz Regional Radio System."

What does OSP have to do with the Summit County 800 radio system? There is no OSP Post in Summit county. The OSP post that serves Summit (Stark) does not have a helicopter. ALL OSP units use MARCS.

Again, please keep this thread limited to discussion of the Summit County 800 radio system.

OSP helos helping APD "Spring Cleaning"

I now have enough context about the OSP helos. The message was in reference to Akron's Operation spring cleaning.

I've not heard any helos, but wasn't listening for them. I know for this APD is using S/E1, S/E2, LDS2, I would try MARCS P76TAC1, CANTON2 for the helo. Maybe even SO-77, as Summit count SO is helping out.

When I was listening to a car chase during the Spring Cleaning Operation, I heard an (officer?) providing directions for cruisers to go, and in the background was what sounded like a helo. This was on P/Tac 1.

49680 "AK PD/FD EMERG" "Police/Fire Emergency" "Public Works" "Akron Services"

This TG is used by the service department personell to notify Akron Police/Fire of Emergencies.

Question?

Why would the system have numerous affiliations from one particular radio?

29251 Affiliation to TG 2256

Can you PM me the whole list of his affiliations? My guess would be the radio is new or has just been turned on. That is one of the conditions where a radio will re-affiliate. I'd like to take a look at what he's affiliating to see if that makes sense.

We are monitoring for confirmation of other TGs for Stow Fire & Police .. no posting to database until TGs are confirmed.

Submitted a few changes to the DB today.

Found Stow FD Fireground 2:

37872 D STOWFD FG2 Stow FD Fireground 2 Fire-Tac

Also, an existing talkgroup has moved. Please move:
1328 053 D CRT-S Court Security Law Tac
to
4560 D CRT-S Court Security Law Tac

Both were confirmed on recorded audio. I've been sitting on the CRT-S for some time. Waiting for someone to say "on Court Security". Finally caught it today.

I did record a 1-second "blip" the day you posted that. I have about 30 seconds of audio today. It is a PD channel. Not sure whose. Not Cuyahoga Falls. They called it "secondary", which is another TG is this were the falls.

I am guessing Copley/Bath/Fairlawn area. BORG, can you see what else the users of this talkgroup are affiating with?

Thanks. I knew that number was familiar. I posted it on this thread a year ago (page 8).

Springfield/Lakemore PD and Summit SO

I had a chance to stop and chat with a Springfield PD officer and get some confirmations of things I've heard lately.

Recall that the SO and Springfield/Lakemore were using South OPS (36848) for a few years now. This was done because all three were dispatched by the SO, and it was hard for them to monitor both channels (SO OPS and S DSP1). This was actually done by a patch with a supergroup of 36848. So for a scanner, this meant that we heard all traffic on 36848 and nothing on 32016.

While doing some control channel decoding lately, I noticed that the patch was still there in October but is no longer there.

The patch was removed because of some rules violation. Patches are meant to be temporary. This one was not. Also, Springfield and Lakemore on now going month-to-month with the county. They are going to be leaving the county dispatch some time.

I know that was a long story. So, temporarily they are all using SO Dispatch 1 (32016). I assume once the PDs get stuff set, they'll be using South Ops (36848). I'll submit a DB record to try and clean up everything. Watch for changes to come again some time in the future.
