Question about RID's. I do not see any Radio ID numbers on my SDS100. I do see them on my home LCRA system. Is this because it is a simulcast system?

They're on my Unication G5, and pop up occasionally on the 436hp. They are in the 6xxxxxx. See them with every transmission on the G5. I've heard the SDS works well on simulcast systems, maybe a setting is off?

This. I don’t remember the setting right off hand but if you Google the “easier to read manual” for the SDS100 it’ll walk you right through it

The SDS series scanners work well on the multiple trunked systems here in the DFW area. Almost all of the systems have at least one simulcast site.

Make sure that the UID field is set in your display. It is not enabled by default in the 'Simple' display, but it can be specified in either Simple or Detailed Trunked Systems displays.

Caught the 09:00 Regional check-in today. 39846 is called ARS Common(new to me), and it only came across the central site. I had one radio on the NE site, picking up nothing on 39846 while the Central site common was talking away. A few weeks back, it was patched to the LCRA side Common 6528 and Hill Country Common 6530. This week the only patch was to Vcall10 155.7525. I just heard two days ago BCFA patched BEX Fire 6527 on the LCRA side, to one of their Fireground channels for mutual aid. So I know the patching does work. And 6528 was a permanent patch from the LCRA P25 system to the old EDACS system. Have they changed things up?

It looks like BCSO Dispatchers are fully encrypted now. A few random units are in the clear still but mostly encrypted. The only dispatcher in the clear still is the Info operator.

Now it looks like just the West dispatcher is Enc. With the usually random units encrypted and some clear.

They announced on East channel this morning for everyone to switch to encryption but they were having issues with vehicle radios and St Hedwig so dispatch switched to clear for now. Should be resolved soon.

This is why you move out of these areas.

A pretty high up source at SAFD has said to me, at least, that the big E is not planned for daily ops. Things can change but he is one that would be in the know. I haven't heard other agencies either talk about encryption for their FD ops at least. There are a couple members on this thread that have more direct insight on the system and the inner workings of where things are going.

The people on here don’t care and laugh because they have the keys. I kinda trust my source that the entire system will be strapped.

Move out of this shole and sell to people that don’t pay taxes.

FYI…

San Antonio City Council approves nearly $10M contract for Motorola fire radios

Some agencies are already using Motorola APX 8000 radios on the new system. Audio quality is excellent and the fire departments love them from what I've heard. SAFD has wanted them for awhile.

Surprised that the city went with Motorola. They been bed with the local Harris dealer down there for 25 years. I would love to see the test report.
