• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a Signal generator,it starts at 10 MHz.
Does anyone know if a CB frequency into the radio can be used into the ANT connector
then all the rf and if coils be aligned using this frequency.

This is because I do not have a generator at 455 KHz.I use channel 19 at around 1uV or less with 30% Modulation.

Thanks,Jim.

Yes you can do a complete alignment using a RF signal applied to the antenna jack. Two things to watch out for:

1. Be sure to use a stable, on frequency signal.
2. Don't key the transmitter into the signal generator.

But why do you think you need to do an alignment on the receiver? The alignment won't change unless you have replaced some major component.

Is your signal generator designed for general radio type work or is it designed for communications level work? The problem with general purpose signal generators is stability of the signal and the attenuator used to vary the output level. Most of the general purpose generators suffer from leakage of the generated signal and the accuracy of the indicated level at low levels.

I got this radio on E Bay it was sold as converted to 10 Meters AM Radio.
I did not hear any signals on this radio,I thought something was wrong.
I later bought a Signal Generator FARNELL PSG520.

It has 2 variable pads 0 to -119 dBm.
Internal or external modulation,AM FM
Thumbwheel control Frequency 10-520 MHz.
Digital readout deviation,Percent of modulation in AM Mode.
N Connector RF output.

I found out that the CB had broken caps to chassis ground from circuit ground
I fixed those it solved the problem of to much noise.
So since this starts at 10 MHz and not 455 KHz,that's why I asked this question.

I have aligned this but i still do not hear any signals on the antenna.Maybe no one is transmitting?
This is on 10 Meters AM 28.995-29.235 MHz. I used 29.105 MHz for ch 19 which was printed on the
cover from the previous owner. I can hear signal from generator well down to -110 dBm which should be .7 uV.

Thanks,Jim.

Hope you didn't pay a lot for the radio, sounds like a real hack job. There is very little AM activity on the 10 Meter band, good luck.
