Alinco: Alinco DJ 580/582 channel memory issue

I have an Alinco DJ582 (virtually the same as DJ%580) that is having a problem with retaining memory channels. I can program the memory channels (completely charged battery or AA battery pack) and after a day or so the channels are "blank" (factory settings). Any idea why this is happening? Is there a memory battery somewhere?

There is a backup battery that holds the memories.
