With basically the whole family and in-law's in the Greater Atlanta Sprawlectomy, it would be nice to be able to pop the new TRS in using Freescan before the next 3.5 hour visit down there..

Let me know when you are coming this way, I have a HUGE FreeScan file you can upload!

I can’t wait to head up to Atlanta later this month to do some monitoring. Part of being a scanner hobbyist is discovering new systems and talkgroups. You guys up in ATL must be having a blast. Thanks for keeping us updated.

It's crazy, you guys are all working like a well oiled machine.
Popping out new ID'd TG's like a team of professional freq. sleuths....
but no one's tracking the new ID's for submission;-) ;-)...
I blame it on new TRS-itis...

Of course my concern is self-motivated.

I'm going through this thread and the ScanAtlanta Yahoo! Group and getting all the verified TGs into the DB as we speak. Give me an hour.

So is the old analog system pretty much dead?
Has East Point switched over?

I think I've got everything. If you have any confirmed moves, adds or changes please submit them to the DB admins at this link.

Nice work.
Considering all the monitoring and logging going on down there with all the ATL members, it's nice to have it in the database.
Appreciate the hard work boys.

I think I finally figured out the SOS Main Dispatch (which is basically Detective Radio patched together with SOS typically)...

APD S0S Dispatch 19786

Dispatch will answer as Detective Radio, you should add it to your scan list as sometimes it comes up with traffic the other channel doesn't have but the other more commonly used Detective Radio talkgroup gets quite a bit more traffic.

Someone should go and delete all those old scanner files which predate digital from the various forums and web sites. Heck I can even find crap files on my PC if I look hard enough. 2.8 TB and counting.

BTW big truck fire on I-285 at I-20 this AM has I-285 closed NB - Fulton at Atlanta

Ok folks, Atlanta Fire is using 19779 as Ops/response...odd that it's near the police grouping, but there's no mistaking the traffic for Fire. I think it's the response channel after a dispatch...units will acknowledge they have arrived. Would that be TAC 1 or Ops?

Atlanta P25 Reception

You guys really are rabid...I love it!! Am absolutely blown AWAY by this thread.

My 396T and PSR-500 have trouble with reception even though I am in zone 2. The trouble is it seems fragmented (garbled and underwater?). Any suggestions?

Thanks

Over the past month or so, I've been experimenting to see what works best. On the 396, I've been changing the settings for Auto or Manual. On manual I've been setting at 6 to see if it helps. Just keep experimenting with it until you are happy with it.

I live in N Gwinnett and the City of Atlanta has never sounded better. I use a 106 with no problems. Sounded great at the ScanIn at PDK. Have you done all the firmware upgrades for both radios? Just a thought.

Investigator talkgroup

Talkgroup 19893 is "Ch 2" Surv for some division of the detectives or investigators...the parties were on Detective dispatch and said go to "2"...and came up on this Surveillance. I'll update as I hear more. Casey

What does FIT stand for in the APD talkgroup listings?
Also, what does OTG stand for?
Thanks,
BG..
Hey ButchGone...FITs are the Field Intervention Teams for each zone....if you listen in you can get a pretty quick grasp on what these are for if they are active. OTGs go back to the first trunked system around the time the Olympics were here, they are used for special events (last weekend for a concert security on one of them at a park)...but I think they official name was Olympic Talkgroup or Officer Talkgroup...maybe I can get a verification? But they are always just referred to as OTG 1, 2.....
