My best memories are dxing back in the 70's from Iowa. I have not been one to ever keep a log mainly because i never thought of it. I will from time to time dx from Los Angeles with my Drake R8A.

New one heard this morning: 940 KTFS Texarkana, TX. - 2500w/11w - 798 miles - with 60s/70s oldies music and local weather forecast at 1203 UTC using jingles "Hits 105", good signal at times here in West Michigan.

I just scored KTWO out of Casper, Wyoming at the top of the hour, but KJDJ out of San Luis Obispo @125 miles is just killing it. Distance 923 miles. My furthest eastern MWDX so far. I still hold out hope for catching something east of the mighty Mississippi:)
Here's a lousy clip of KTWO's English BC amidst all that Espanol.

EDIT: sorry, second-furthest eastern DX..my best is KOA Denver @960 miles. Not that it matters to anyone but me but still pretty happy.

KJDJ - now there's one that I would love to catch over here :) Nice going on KTWO, they do pretty well here just before they change to night pattern, then they are out like a light!

Thanks hff:) I use that HF antenna in my sig. Over here I have a Spanish station on 860 that rarely powers down, and their antenna is right at the east bay's edge @ 9 miles, and the guys behind the mic are always hollering so they bleed all over the place. Most of the time if I want to hear KOA I have to really tweek the narrow filters. The r75 pulls it up better than the r71a but the 71a is at the desk. KOA's a powerhouse luckily. It's fun for me, to listen to far away stations. Ever since I was little I love it-it's like an escape.

Lately all I've been getting is the same stations on all the channels. Any time I think I've got a new one it's the wrong kind of surprise, i.e. something I heard before. Ah well, still is fun to hear stuff from other cities. Last few mornings been listening to CKJR 1440 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta during sunrise skip. Nice mix of oldies, and the weather reports have been invigorating to say the least: minus 20 degrees C, blowing snow, etc.

Hfflunki, if you want to get a bit more selectivity out of your radio using the loop, move it a bit farther away from the loop. It won't make the radio itself more selective, but makes the reception more selective.

I've done this with a Sony Walkman that sounds great, but has medium selectivity. I was able to get DX next to some strong regional channels using this method. There usually is still enough gain from the loop to DX using the radio.

Sometimes it works with DX channels next to local channels, sometimes not so much... but moving the radio away from the loop a bit will add to selectivity.

@ Ridgeland ...
Your 660 Bloomberg radio might be KSKY out of TX.
I doubt it's the one near Orlando just from its pattern alone. I'm surprised that I could even hear them
in *Florida* when I visited the Folks a few years back.

Fwiw, 660 here in Northeast PA is WFAN day and night, which occasionally gets a good, readable nibbling from WAMO in Pittsburgh. One December there was no WFAN at all, just C&W from a paint WESC in SC. That would have been via the mid-winter anomaly.
