My new AM radio reception reports also in MP3 audio files

Yesterday at aproximately 8:00 PM CST, I started to record some strange radio stations from my location in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico. I have recorded the following stations very clearly. Sorry if the sound isn't as good as I wanted, it's because I recorded the sounds with my cell phone's voice recorder from my car's radio.

Well, here are the files

XEHL-AM 1010 kHz - Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. (Televisa Deportes W)
Televisa Deportes W - Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico

XESP-AM 1070 kHz - Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. (1070 Noticias)
Radio Noticias 1070 - Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico

XEWA-AM 540 kHz - San Luis Potosi, San Luis Potosi, Mexico. (Los 40 Principales) (Part 1)
Los 40 Principales 540 AM & 103.9 FM - San Luis Potosi, San Luis Potosi, Mexico

XEWA-AM 540 kHz - San Luis Potosi, San Luis Potosi, Mexico. (Los 40 Principales) (Part 2)
Los 40 Principales 540 AM & 103.9 FM - San Luis Potosi, San Luis Potosi, Mexico

511 miles on 109 watts

Thought this was a good catch using my RTL-SDR setup and a Ham It Up Converter.

06:00 UTC 1370 WTAB, in Tabor City NC, showing omni at 109 watts! Clear TOH ID "serving the twin cities", that's a 511 mile haul.

Hey neighbor, 1600 is likely WAAM Ann Arbor, MI. unless you had them nulled.

Ya I've been putting a little more effort in swl because with solar trends I suspect it will be the last solid dx season for a while and it has been very disappointed I've built 10 or 11 antenna design and configs nothing brings it in with a indoor rig finally settled on a 2 ft 64ft of wire helical with preamp and breaker box converting to rca out but the phasing station loops are set up again due to pitifull sw conditions

HF if you have a metal tape measure laying around you can connect its end to the tip of the sw whip and run it out some across the room-it is basically being a reel type horizontal antenna. It may improve your signal-to-noise a little.

Ya it probably would but I think the culprit in the bad audio on the videos is I'm using my phone for a camera but I figured the videos are just short enough not to be to bad

Radio: 7.5” Loopstick Tecsun PL-380
Total stations logged: 36
New stations logged: 0
Furthest station logged: 2RN (New Castle) 1032km

Notes: Tonight I managed to grab a 40 minute block of time to myself, our daughter was born this week so I have been spending a lot of time at the hospital, her and my wife have come home today so things can now become the “ new” normal. For the foreseeable future most of my sessions will be at home or very close by.

In the 40 minutes I had I was able to log 36 stations, all of these I have logged previously. All the normal Tasmanian / Victorian stations I would expect to hear came in with fair to good audio, some NSW stations were also logged with the top end of the band between 1152kHz and 1512kHz being where these were mostly found. A number of these NSW stations maxing out the PL380's signal meter. I did a quick listen on my NZ check frequencies but no signals were heard, given the early time this session was undertaken this was to be expected.

Lately been monitoring mostly graveyard channels on my SR1, PR-D5 and Sony ICF-38, with aid of a loop -- but have been hearing the same stations over and over again...

This evening there was some decent propagation in the X-band. Heard KSVE 1650 El Paso TX with ESPN Deportes. I usually only hear that once or twice a year.

Have heard a low power station in British Columbia that plays pop, the EZ Rock format -- CKIR Invermere 870 khz. I had been trying to ID that one for over a year. It never would fade up loud enough for an ID, and way too often was buried in static, or just not present at all. A few nights ago it faded up nearly to armchair quality, with pop music and ID's. Earlier tonight I heard it for a little bit also.

Also a South Asian music station coming in from the south on 620 khz, I suspect it's KIGS Hanford Calif., but any chance of an ID is wiped out by KPOJ Portland Oregon's TOH IDs and commercials. :-(

DXers luck, y'know.

A bit of auroral conditions on the night of the 10th (PST) bagged me three new stations (one IDed and the others are UNIDs but I'm pretty sure what stations they are), 1270 KJUG Visalia, Calif., with religious programming and an ID -- it was the only station on the frequency for much of the evening; 1120 KZSJ San Jose with Vietnamese programming (UNID last night but got an ID from them tonight), and KAZA 1290 Gilroy, Calif. with SE Asian programming (still working on an ID on that one). On a Sangean PR-D5 and Sony ICF-38 w/ a loop.

Hey boombox what kind of loop are you using I'm thinking about retiring my homebrew and use two terk am advantages for phasing for better ballance and range of frequency
