American Electric Power (AEP) P25 WACN 92715

Checking in from just outside the Louisiana SWEPCO area. My work often takes me to the coverage area of several current (or former) AEP sites so I'll see if I can find some information. So far all I've got is a non-decoding data channel on WPCB251 854.6875 in Ringgold LA. I assumed it was PV as that is the only upgrade I do not have nor do I have experience with EDCAS systems. That was before I started digging in this thread and figured this all may be connected (literally). I'll be able to get Unitrunker out by more AEP sites in the future and see what they're up to and if this area is joining with the sites mentioned in this thread.

Sounds like a good plan. We use somebody around that area to keep an eye on things. SWEPCO (including Ringgold) will definitely be a part of it. And I've already seen significant FCC license modifications for the AR/LA portion in preparation. When SWEPCO sites come online, they will likely have WACN 92715 (just like in all of the rest of the states), but may have a different SysID than any currently documented. Currently documented SysIDs are 1F5 through 1F9. They may actually end up being in 1F8 or 1F9 also since I don't think there are more than 50 sites in the SWEPCO portion.

If I start seeing FCC construction notifications for the SWEPCO region (that might suggest they are ready to / have turned up P25 sites in that region), I'll be sure and post them here.

Interesting that I have been watching Flat Top for new neighbors and just happened to find this new neighbor on 36.36 but not on 37.37.
I assumed neighbors would be reciprocal. Oh well...

Crowell I know is online and the only one I have been able to decode direct. It's already in the db.
Childress and Matador have been showing as a neighbor on several sites for a couple weeks.
There hasn't been any good band openings here in over 3 weeks now.

SWEPCO update:

Ringgold, Bellvue, and Plain Dealing sites are transmitting non-EDACS data on several channels from the distance I was able to monitor. Ringgold frequencies are being used in analog mode (non-EDACS) for sure. I'll be able to get a radio and SDR closer this week for more information.

I was barely able to decode 1F8 103-103 Wellington TX for the first time this morning.
It had two neigbors that probably came on line recently
1F8 21-21 854.6125 probably Clarendon TX
1F8 40-40 855.1875 probably Turkey TX
855.1875 is also at Memphis TX but the built a new site near there and they didn't update the emission designators for this site so I'm guessing its Turkey.

Thanks, Tom. Interested in your thought. Not sure if you look at the wiki page for any of the AEP P25 system IDs, but if you do I'm wondering if you think it would be better to separate the "online" ones from the "needs confirmed" ones. Perhaps the "online" ones at the top and then the "needs confirmed ones" in a separate section below, or vice versa? Of course, I'm looking for input from whomever, not just you. But since you are predominantly the one discovering the sites down there, I figured I'd ask you.

Took a drive to Refugio. Can confirm a CC of 855.9375 with NAC 02B. Neighbor reported is 57 (Tradewinds).

Site 57 is now reporting site 13 (probably Corpus Christi) and 43 as neighbors. 13 was showing isolated in DSDplus. Shows CC of 854.7875. Was unable to receive while in Corpus.

Info for Refugio has been submitted.

I'm not sure if you are in a position to do so or not, but if you are could you get a peer/neighbor list (including site IDs and freqs) for any AEP P25 sites that you are able to copy in your area? Just wondering if some of the peer/neighbor lists may have changed (to indicate possible new additions).

And I suspect the 1F8-13.13 site (which you indicated was an isolated peer of 1F8-57.57 sometime back) is probably Port Lavaca (based upon recent FCC construction notifications). Although I have no way of knowing that for sure -- pure speculation.

At any rate, if you are able to get updated peer/neighbor lists for the sites you are able to copy, that would be much appreciated.

PS: Alice / Freer and Fannin construction notifications were filed recently as well, so any of those might be online or coming online soon. They look like they might be close enough for you to copy if they are online.

Here are the new neighbor sites that probably came online in the past couple weeks that I can't confirm yet.
All are 1F8
21-21 854.6125 Clarendon TX
36-36 854.8125 Shamrock TX - that's at least the 3rd site in this area with a Pri CC on this freq
40-40 855.1875 Turkey TX

According to AEP Texas outage maps, the top of the AEP Texas service territory is Childress TX. According to the SWEPCO outage map, SWEPCO has a small service area N/NW from Childress TX to include Memphis, Wellington, Hedley, and Clarendon.

But, thus far, that portion of SWEPCO that is N/NE of Childress TX is part of the AEP Texas 1F8 system. I don' t know if that means that the rest of SWEPCO will be part of 1F8 or not. Just throwing this out there, as this oddity has messed up my mapping hah.

They must have changed something between when I first found it and when they put in more neighboring sites.
Almost all the other sites in this area only show 2 alt CCs.

Ok, Tom. Will do. Same here -- despite the fact that Harris systems _can_ reportedly use all active freqs as CCs, historically only a handful of sites thus far have advertised more than 2-3 alternate CCs when monitoring the control channel.

I started seeing some new peers and sites last week and started compiling to submit. When I checked again the next day none of the original sites would decode anymore and the new ones have a wide bandwidth (22 Khz) continuous signal being broadcast. I'm assuming that it is a test signal.
