It wasn't until the last week of 2004 that I noticed that I was no longer hearing AMR.

For the last several years they've been using 155.2200 mhz and I know they are VERY ACTIVE. I happened to pop over to their frequency the other day and didn't hear anything. After about 10 minutes of silence I knew something had happened.

Larry4Gen private msg'd me asking the same thing. He noticed that there was no longer any activity on the Harrison TRS link to their primary channel. Apparently they've moved to another frequency in the middle of the night and its no longer being rebroadcasted on the harrison TRS.

I tried listening to their old 155.4000 mHz which use to serve as their Jackson County freq, but went dorment after they lost the bid for that county a couple of years ago. I also listened in to 155.3250 mHz, NO LUCK!

I can't find them!!!!! I can't find them on VHF, and I the entire few days my online scanner was down I was monitoring in ID SEARCH mode on harrison TRS. No AMR talkgroups came up. Nothing. Even right now I hear gulfport FD dispatched to a medical and they're relaying info about amr but no more hearing amr for some reason.

Does anyone have any idea what happened to amr channel?

AMR Freq

I would suggest that you call AMR and ask for the supervisor or the shop. They will probably tell you what frequencies they are using, or in the alternative provide you with the name of the radio folks that program the radios for AMR. This is how I found out the AMR FREQ in CT when i was up there. Might not hurt to try...

Well I know who services them already, its Paterson Communications in Biloxi, they're the authorized GE dealer in this area. If only the Motorola deal would of went through when Harrison County was taking bids, the county would be on an APCO25 system and everything would be hunky-dory....

My fear is that they moved to Harrison's TRS using PROVOICE.

I doubt they went to southernLinc and I doubt they went to Nextel as well. I had nextel and for the areas they have to cover would make it useless most of the time. Harrison and Hancock County are fairely large and rural. Anywhere north of I-10 and nextel/Linc is pretty much useless.

I don't have any old acadian frequencies, but for the last 2 days I have scanned between 154.0000 and 156.0000 with nothing. I've also scanned between 450.0000 and 468.0000 with no luck.

I asked my friend with TEAM ONE COMMUNICATIONS (motorola shop for Jackson County TRS) who USE to service AMR when they were in Jackson CO too and he doesn't know anything. He's going to ask around and get back to me but I don't know what good will come from it. If they're using the harrison trs it's without a doubt going to be provoice because I've not heard jack on the analog groups.

Its seriously starting to sound like they went to the EDACS system...... the only good thing would be if they are using analog on it like the VFD's

There are 2 AMR TG's listed on the Harrison Co TRS...... Sounds like its time to monitor this TRS a lot closer over the next few months.

yeah it wouldn't be a problem if they did, but the thing that makes me think they went provoice is I've been in ID SEARCH mode now for a week while my online scanner was down, and never heard ANYTHING amr. I was hearing everything all over but them. And as much as they talk I wouldn't of missed them.

sigh..

Just out of curiosity, what does AMR down there do? They've been out of NJ for at least 6 years now and they only ever did hospital discharges, transfers, and dialysis runs up here. Working for them was BORING!

AMR in MS provides full EMS services from BLS to ALS to generic transfers.......to NON EMS transport services.....

They are the single largest EMS agency in the state with operations based in Natchez, Jackson, Biloxi/Gulfport, Vicksburg...... They serve at least twenty out of 82 counties. They are followed by Metro Ambulance, Emergistat, AAA, EMServe, Goss, and all the smaller county EMS's and private hospital EMS stuff.

AMR rose to power here in the early 90's when Mobile Medic folded and sold thier operations to AMR. Ever since then they have been the single most successful agency in MS.....

AMR GPS Units

I forgot to make mention last posting that AMR Jxn (MS) which includes Hinds, Rankin, and Madison Counties started using the on board GPS for dispatch. There are plenty of times here in Jackson where AMR is dispatched emergency call and I never hear it on my scanners; they simply hit their "enroute" button on the receiver. There are times when the GPS system isn't working for one reason or the other then you copy all traffic.

Yes AMR Jackson is upgrading to an CAD system with full GPS supported MDS's.... Most dispatches will be a one sided thing on the VHF, with the only other things you hear with the system fully functional will be mileages,... requests for MED Patch, and special info.....

They will still be using the VHF for backup to the CAD, HEAR, and for interop on VFD/EOC's etc....

Okay I found out what happened to AMR.

I saw a unit parked out by the shell station and pulled up along side and started asking them what happened to their comms. It so happens that the paramedic I was talking to also has a scanner, and also use to listen to AMR, and he knows exactly what happened.

AMR (as suspected) moved all of their comms to the Harrison County TRS using digital (in his words). So they're using provoice talkgroups exclusively. Furethermore, at the same time that change took place they also added "RescueNet NOMADS MDS" to their fleet. So it seems that they too are using the CAD with GPS as well.

This is all great for them, it's certainly going to help them with calls, but sucks for us scanning listeners.

Hospital Emergency Affiliated Radio Network
It used to be the nationwide net set aside by APCO in the 70's for all EMS type agencies. Also set aside back then was the 10 MED chans for paramedics.
