Hey UPMan stated on the 536HP update page that the Android APP should be out in 2016. So give it 6 or 7 months....

What is so special about this Siren app that 5-0 Radio can't do?

You can control and listen to your own scanner from any location. 5.0 Radio your limited to listening to what those providers provide and you can't control or hold on a channel.

Wow, that's pretty neat. Are there any links that describe exactly how it would work?

There have been plenty of post about this over the last 2 years. This has also been the mention in the x36hp release video and a demo video by UPMan on YouTube. Not sure how you could have missed this.

Probably because this website is so huge....makes it easy to miss a lot of things from experience in the last 20 years.

Furthermore, according to the 40+ IOS App store reviews, the Siren app is a total failure.

That's because it's not finished. Last update on it was over a year ago. You asked the question and I provided you the answer. Don't shoot the messenger.

I wouldn't conclude that it is a "total failure". As wise871 pointed out it does need updating but it does work pretty well over a LAN connection. I use it everyday and enjoy the enhanced functionality it adds to my 536. I sold my HP2 to get the 536 and the one thing I missed was the big color screen on the HP2. The Siren app. gives me that along with the ability to listen to the scanner from anywhere in the house. I also enabled VPN on my router so I'm also able to listen to the scanner remotely on my iphone and Ipad.

With a properly configured router the Siren app. is really neat and provides features that no other scanner has.

Looking for 2 or 3 people to add to the beta on the Siren app. Pretty saturated right now with DMR stuff?

Just need to be willing to give comments/bug reports and keep the comments off the forums for the duration of testing.

Hi Paul,

I would be interested in participating in the beta testing. Thanks!
