I believe 8859 (Encrypted) is Animal Care & Control.
I'm devastated! I had my heart set on listening to the dogcatcher. At least, I have the garbage trucks. I'm waiting to see the new layout for AA Fire and BWI Fire on the P25 system. I see that BWI has a number of fire talkgroups on the Maryland Aviation Administration system. Maryland Transportation Authority Police also has talkgroups on that system.

Fire zone appears to be 8743-8780 potentially up 8790 based on what I have seen during testing, logins, and keyups by radio techs/consoles. There is a handful of encrypted talkgroups in that zone.

The only talkgroups from BWI/MAA that will be potentially on the P25 system is the BWI patches that are on the AA P16 system (BWI Disp, Tac 1, Tac 2). I don't see any reason for MDTAP patches. All AAFD radios already actively use the MAA system so I really don't see the need for that patch but there probably is a reason for it.

It will be interesting to see if MSP Barrack P/J Annapolis/Glen Burnie is patched backed to the AA system as it is now on P16 and all other new statewide county systems. As of now, there is no indication of a patch. But if it happens, I will bet 100% that it is encrypted even though they are in the clear on FIRST.

The MSP (V) Berlin Barrack crosslink is in the clear on the Worcester and Ocean City systems, so there's that, as is Barrack X on the Somerset system.

Yeah, it could potentially in the clear. But they have locked down everything on this new system that is related to law enforcement/security (as I expected) so I would be pretty shocked if AA left in the clear. I am surprised that Park Rangers aren't encrypted ;)

I don't know how many of the surrounding counties have the MAA system in their radios. The patches may be there for mutual aid.
I do know Baltimore County & Howard County have MAA talkgroups in their radios but I am not sure of who else does.

Sorry for you folks in AACo--and even though this kind of validates one of my reasons for leaving AACo some years ago, I have to say that encrypting Animal Control does seem like overkill. I guess those unsubstantiated rumours about stray dogs using scanner apps to evade capture must be true.

USNA units had their radios reprogrammed for the system. USNA tested their radio on Alpha. Rid: 1253xxx.

If allied agencies are going through the expense of reprogramming radios to use the new P25 fire tgids, it seems likely that the AAFD is not going to be changing their channel lineup with the rollout of the new system. Maybe in the future?

Or at least not change much.

Annapolis Transit (8627) either got new radios or had their radios reprogrammed this morning. A lot of testing of radios in the morning and then users started to use their radios.

8629 (Previously patched to 21C Annapolis Services) - "Radio Maintenance" did a lot of testing of various radios.

8626 - Test Counts.

Will be interesting to see if they break up the Annapolis Services talkgroup into separate talkgroups (Harbormaster, Streets, Parks, etc.).

So far, Harbormaster & Annapolis Parks Maintenance Crews have started to use 8629 (P25). I guess they aren't going to break up the talkgroup.

AAFD Fire Alarm (Dispatch) started operating out of the RCC this morning. Maybe installing/upgrading the consoles at HQ?
