It appears the AA Cnty P 25 is functioning and simulcasting with P 16. Much better signal quality. Probably needs some finishing touches prior to cutover, especially mobile units.

It's been on for weeks. Been monitoring it with the G4 and G5.

Audio will be better once the systems aren't patched anymore.

FD audio is great and much improved over analog system.
If true, this is a very recent development. When I was in the county last week, it was typical of patched analog signalling re-transmitted over a digital RF path. Much depends on the condition of the talk-in channel and user's radio location. We can assume that the backhaul is new, but they are still using the legacy RF site equipment until the P25 system is fully transitioned. After some period of time, they will dismantle, remove and dispose of all the old SmartZone site controllers and legacy base stations - there is a brisk market for that stuff.

8601 (full time patch - encrypted) came online yesterday. It appears to be AACC Security/Police.

No signs of any patches for Sheriffs yet but I would assume they will be encrypted. It appears that all law enforcement (as expected) will be encrypted on the new system.

Since Stewie is determined to turn Anne Arundel into the new Montgomery, I'm surprised that he will allow encryption to be implemented. As a quiet revolt to his misguided policies, I refuse to pay his bag tax, lol.

AAPD dispatchers (all the districts) were using the P25 system earlier today (clear on the P16 but ENC as expected on P25). On unitrunker it looked like all the districts were using it with consoles RIDS of 10xx. It seems that they have switched back over to the P16 system now. They have been operating out of the RCC.

Additionally, 8919-8922 came "alive" today and are patches back to P16. They appear to be Sheriff's Office related. As expected ENC.

I think the switchover for police is soon, possibly this week. No idea about Fire.

Sheriff Ops 1 (P16) is patched to 8919, 8920, 8921, 8922
Sheriff Circuit Security 1 (P16) is patched to 8923, 8924

Based solely on how they operate on P16 my *guess*:

8919 Sheriff Ops 1
8920 Sheriff Ops 2
8921 Sheriff Tac 1
8922 Sheriff Tac 2
8923 Circuit Court Security 1
8924 Circuit Court Security 2

Perhaps they were using the RCC so that configuration changes could be made to Police and Fire Communications facilities? Have they broken ground yet for the new ECC? I'm assuming that existing subscribers (SUIDs) were still in use.

what i want to know is how are they using moto radios when it is listed as a smartzone and with smartzone you can only use 3 digits digital tg and only up to a certion point using hex 4 digits. when you try to enter the 5 digits under dec you get an error code.

The hex values on RR have a trailing zero. I'm sure there's a reason why related to the way scanners program, I just don't remember or know what it is. Take those out and enter by hex and you'll get the correct number. Thus x43B instead of x43B0 leading to a decimal value of 1083 instead of 17328.

Since just before 7 am yesterday, AAPD Dispatchers have been using the P25 system fulltime . Users are still on the P16 system. Have seen logins on various AAPD talkgroups but no activity from field users.

Annapolis PD Dispatchers started using their P25 talkgroup today. No signs (voice or logins) of any activity from field users.

8685 (encrypted) appears to be the patch for Detention Center 1 from the P16. Detention Center 2 on P16 does not appear to be patched over to P25. Both talkgroups are pretty quiet normally. Never really monitored them on the old system before so unsure of their true usage as I believe both detention facilities operate on the 800mhz Conventional Frequencies.

No signs of any field user or dispatcher activity for Fire, Sheriffs, AACC Public Safety/Police or Detention other than the full time patches.

So I understand, are you saying that the dispatch side was being patched back to the P16 system, or was it being simulcast? I was in Annapolis for about an hour today while transiting through in the morning and afternoon. I did see Annapolis consoles IDing as 1025 and 1026, with mobiles IDing as 0, indicating a crosslink. Last Thursday, both sides ID'd as 0.

The Sheriff Ops 1 once or twice used a console, 1008 and 1009 (prob a police dispatcher), but mostly 0. AACC Police was still 0 for both sides. Southern District was using 1009; Western 1010; Eastern 1008; and Northern 1007. Teletype used 1011 and 1051; CID 1003, 1004 and 1009. Occasionally a few P25 subscribers joined the talk groups but did request channel grants.
