Where I notice problems is in the area of 81st and Yale.

This is because, I think, there is a hill just north of this area.

I could be completely wrong about this, but I believe that the two broadcast points are located
at 61st and Sheridan 6650 E 61ST KNJH431 and downtown.

And then there are other sites, I am not sure what their role is.

This site below contains detailed information from the FCC concerning KNJH431

Bedides listing the location at 6650 E. 61st St. it also lists other locations.

This information is contained under the tab “Locations”

To be honest, besides the site at 61st and Sheridan, and the site downtown,
I am not sure what the other role, of the other locations, are.....

Unfortunately this is where I'm at. I never had a problem until a few months ago. Freqed has helped me bunches with updating the system but OKWIN is garbled and P25 comes in really clear.

I lived in that area several years ago (81st and Yale) and found the only real solution is a discone antenna.

I was able to place it in our attic and run the cord down into the house and to the scanner.

It solved the problem for me.

Again, I always postulated that the reason for the reception issues in this area is the hill that is just north
of that neighborhood

The trunked repeater sites are the ones with station class FB2C. Those are the only ones your scanner listens to. Those are location #1 and #2 on the license.
The rest of the locations are FX1 control stations and MO mobile stations. Those are the subscriber radios on the repeater input frequencies.

Thanks. Those are the towers located at 61st and Sheridan (6650 E 61ST) and downtown (100 E SECOND STREET)

The call sign of: KNJH431 — What does this represent? I assume it is the FCC license for the entire system?

Here is a trivia question for some of you hard-core enthusiasts out there...

What organization (at least in the past) and perhaps still today, held the FCC license call sign:

KKT558

The dispatcher would say this at the end of every transmission.

No. OKWIN doesn't have one license for the whole system. KNJH431 the callsign for one particular license only. It's only for the locations, frequencies and number of units listed on that license.

There are a crapload of different licenses that belong to the State of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, Edmond, Tulsa, Owasso , and maybe others that I don't remember.

Are you guys sure KKT558 was the correct callsign?
It isn't currently assigned to anybody and it doesn't appear in the FCC license archive search like normal expired/cancelled/terminated PLMR licenses.

If my memory is right KKT558 was the old Tulsa Troop B OHP, KVP598 was Muskogee Troop C OHP and KKY345 was Vinita Troop L OHP or something close to that . This was long ago when they were on low VHF with high vhf car repeaters..

I found an old Police Call book for Oklahoma from 1994. It lists KKT558 licensed to a 45.220 transmitter site in Bristow for OHP Tulsa.

KKT558 was stated after almost every transmission, at one time, for OHP Troop B Tulsa.

155.310 (I think..) was what Troop B used.

155.070 was what Tulsa County Sheriff used for dispatch

Interestingly, I hear traffic (from time to time) on 155.070, I believe it is still used by Tulsa CO

I loved those old Police Call books.... Those were the days :)

Yes. I am fairy sure. I probably heard it over 100 times LOL.

KKT558 was broadcasted after every transmission in the “old days” for OHP TROOP B TULSA

What type of equipment does everyone have?

I have: Uniden’s SDS100 and 200, BCD325P2, Homepatrol1, Homepatrol-2,
and Whistler’s TX-1

I am kind of “OCD” when it comes to this hobby. LoL

I never listen to analog (OKWIN) anymore...only P25

Our family has a lake house (in a neighboring state,) and there the county uses a P25 I
150.00-155.00mhz system.

I went through a kaleidoscope of different antennas, learning expeditiously, that the RS 800mhz
was useless.

I did not want go “the discone route”, and found that the W100RX finally worked...
but only in certain areas of a room, and, in some rooms, not at all.

I have found a phenomenon that if you leave an antenna in specific place (for a few days without moving it)
the reception, invariably improves demonstrably

Interesting read below if anyone is interested:
