Tried changing the WAV header sample rate of the new file to 34260 as suggested by someone on the AR5700 Facebook page and this new modified recording now sounds as it should on Windows Media Player.
Unfortunately when copied back to the SD card the modified file sounds exactly the same as the original recording, ie correct speed but very distorted.

Just finished the upgrade with no issues.....

So can we all assume and agree the digital decoder FW (aka DigDec) is 2507A once this upgrade is complete?

The utility doesn't present/compare the current/available version of this code....like the MainBoard / Decoder / Panel buttons do?

This is what mine went to according to the log file created by the complete upgrade process.

I got a chance over the past few days to use my AR5700D and try out some features.

One neat feature is the tone/DCS search. The radio can search both CTCSS and DCS at the same time pretty fast. One quirk is ALL sometimes does not immediately get selected with a left turn of the sub knob on the first setting, it goes to the highest tone/DCS. The sub knob needs to be turned back to the right for ALL to be selected. A limitation is the audio remains muted when there is no tone/DCS, unless the CTCSS or DCS is false decoding. It will also decode digital modes when in DALL mode.

I noticed that the receiver will decode Yaesu System Fusion Voice Wide mode (VW) but the display will still say DN.

While there is a global auto-store setting via the AS command over the serial port, the only way I found to do it on the receiver is to put the search bank in a search group and turn auto-store on. The frequencies are also stored in the 1024 frequency search memory. This search memory can not be displayed directly, but can be accessed via the FL command over the serial port. The FL command displays up to 40 entries of the search memory.

I could not seem to get FFT Search to work properly on my AR-Alpha, but it works somewhat better on the AR5700D. It is called Cybersearch on the AR5700D. If a mode like P25 is set, then the receiver will only stop on P25 signals. The save to memory bank 38 seems broken and only stores up to two frequencies at most. Save to memory bank 38 is only active when the global auto-store command (AS) is set to 1 over the serial port. Setting auto-store on in the search group containing the search bank does not work.

FFT Search (Cybersearch) acts differently when using the serial port (FF command). It appears to find multiple frequencies active in the search bank at one time and thus does not output audio from received signals. This also changes the usefulness of the various FL commands. FL2 is useless because only one frequency is outputted. The counts of FL4 seem more duration-based rather than the number of transmissions heard. The FM command over the serial port works properly as I was able to use a FM4 command to store the found frequencies to memory bank 38.

Unfortunately the ARL2300Local program can not do a FFT Search or access the frequency search memory.

Same here. Main 404AB D3N5A P511A. I almost shipped mine to AOR 4 months ago for a firmware update. Boy did I dodge a bullet by waiting. Thanks again AOR for releasing the firmware updater.

I have a VB program set up to make editing memories a bit easier and it's working fine except for one niggle.

I thought it would be useful to accurately set up the radio Date and Time with just the press of a button on the PC and it does appear to correctly send the "CK" command in the form CKYYYYMMDDHHMMSS. eg for the time of this post in the UK it would be something like CK20250704125000 + chr(13)

However the time is not updating on the radio display even though interrogating the clock with a blank CK on the PC suggests it has worked.
Either I'm doing something wrong or there is a bug in the radio. Very confused.
I wondered if you could help me in being able to get a bank of frequencies imported into the AOR5700D or the ARL2300L Software, I have tried everything to no avail, What is a VB program and could you tell me how you do this please, M3UQS.

I do not understand why the same Microtelecom software creates the data flow upon being run on the Perseus, but not on the 5700.
The result is obviously that no data make it to the decoding software on the other side of the VAC.

Ideas ?

It's a Visual Basic program which makes it a bit easier to enter and edit individual memories on the 5700.
I'm guessing you have a CSV list of frequencies to import, something I haven't really found necessary so the program as it stands wouldn't be much use for that.

In case of Perseus SDR the AF signal is supplied to the computer via the USB interface to the soundcard. If you connect your AR5700 via USB interface to a computer you can remotely control the radio but no AF signal is transmitted to the soundcard. Therefore, if you want using VAC to interprete the AF signal you have to install a cable between line output on the radio (connector 10 on the rear panel) and line input of the soundcard.

In case of Perseus SDR the AF signal is supplied to the computer via the USB interface to the soundcard. Thanks very much, it works fine like that. I just thought that it was possible to do so through the USB due to a note in the addendum of the Ops Manual, clearly ill worded.
