There are no P25 systems in Dayton yet but me and another guy here have expressed to the guy building all the motorola ham repeaters in the area that the user base here is growing and thats kinda what he was waiting to hear. Hes got the hardware up in the area, he just needs to flip the switch!!! :)

Matt, that is great news. There are about 8 of us here in Columbus that are working on it, too.

The equipment is in hand, and there may something on the air, at least temporarily very soon (I am surprised it is not on now). I'll update with the frequency when it happens.

NEW P25 Amateur repeater listing site

Hi all I have started a web page at www.P25Ham.com for people to find the repeaters and information on access easily via the web or PDA. I encourage all of you that have Digital P25 repeaters up to submit your listing or change what may be posted already on the site from what I was able to find on other sites if its incorrect.
Thanks all
Jeff

Need some advice on radios.

I am looking to jump into this P25 thing and need some advice on radios. I found the F70DT for $525 with all new plastic and the F1821D new for $619. Are these fairly decent radios? I read about some audio issues have those been resolved? I'd like to get some newer modern radios and these seem to be the way to go.

I have a F70DT that had audio problems. Covered under warranty, works fine now. I also have F1721D and F1821D radios. No problems. Easier to program that "M".

I recently acquired an Icom IC-F1821D as well, and I also must say the software is significantly easier than Motorola's. Thus far I'm very pleased with this radio. I'm using the remote head mount in my truck. Works dandy.

I spent more than that for my 1821D. Are you SURE that's new, and are you sure it's P25 ready? I know the D is supposed to indicate that, but it's a hell of a price. I searched after reading this comment for the first time and found nothing under about $1300 or so. I know Icom had a trade in offer going for a while, but even that didn't reduce the 1821D to $619.

I also have Motorola XTS3000's for VHF and UHF, and both are outstanding radios.

is any of the amateur companies plan on making p 25 radio

The big ones all do...take your choice of Icom, Kenwood, or Yaesu...
But the radios are all commercial grade versions. Looking at their amateur radios will not give you what your looking for.

Not that I'm aware of....but can't say 100%. Maybe someone else can advise.

Ask in the Icom or applicable forum. You'll get better visibility.
