Good Day,

I downloaded the owners manual for the AR dV1 Receiver. I beleive I've covered the entire manual, but concentrated on and skipping around to programming a digital channel.
I've not found the section with detailed directions for the programming of a digital channel. Could someone advise me as to the proccedure but most importantly direct me to the section in the manual. I found the section for storing channels to the memory, that being much like the procedure for programming the AR8600.

I'm also hopping that a software be developed, I'll wait patiently.
Thank you in advance.

Dave,
That's pretty much it. You store the channel in a memory bank. As far as I could see there are no digital parameters to program. If you're waiting for software to program this radio, you (and I) may be waiting a long long time. The only person who seems to have actually bought this radio and is posting on RRDB seems to be BamaScan, who by the way, gives a two thumbs up to the AR-DV1. Scott in Cape Cod and I have used one on a trial basis.
There must be a few others who bought the radio (Jeff at Ham Station) told me so, but the numbers are very few. So whether there will be enough demand for software, I don't know. I hope so.
If you have a lot of DMR and NXDN you want to listen to, then buying the radio may be worthwhile. I don't know that you're going to get much more than what has been promised to date (I am sure you have read my comments in other threads), but it still is the only radio out there right now that receives most digital modes.
Yes, we have dongles, tapped scanners, and DSD+, but for me, now that I have not had the AR-DV1 for over a week, I realize that the radio was still a heck of lot easier to use to listen to NXDN and DMR than setting up DSD+ all the time. Now I don't have that much NXDN/DMR here yet in LA, so whether I will eventually buy the radio, is still unknown. But if you have quite a bit of NXDN/DMR you want to listen to, then despite the no trunking and the slow scan/search speeds, the AR-DV1 is a lot easier to use than firing up DSD+ all the time, and a lot less clunky.
Now whether that is worth $1200 to you, me, and anyone else, is of course an individual decision. I'm not holding my breath that we will see a lot of new features on the AR-DV1 that have not been mentioned already. But I'm also not holding my breath that you are going to see anyone else come out with an all digital mode radio that does trunking, analyze, and everything else.
I do miss searching for NXDN/DMR with a radio like the AR-DV1 without being tethered to a computer. How much do I miss it? I don't know just yet. A lot will depend on what I can do with DMR other than just ham radio with my new CS-750/800. But then again, that only covers 400 Mhz UHF.

Hi Steve,
I'm still a little confused with the digital Programing. When you say store a channel in the memory bank, are you referring to the frequency used by that agency? I understand that the mode be set to P25.
Thanks

Steve, Thanks you very much!

I'm getting very interested in this receiver. I've previosly owned an AR8600 and have always been sorry I sold it. Having a wideband receiver fills in the gaps from the trunking scanners. Hope that sounds like a good reason to buy one.

I called Taka last week, and asked some questions about the DV1, he mentioned the DV1 and the 8600 have the same wideband systems with the DV1 expanding and going where no other receiver has been.

Your write up on the DV1 was very enlightening.

I appreciate all your help!

Interesting I found out
I am scanning both a Moto TRBO trunked system and also a Kenwood NXDN system.
Now on the NXDN system in scan mode I must lock out the Data ch.
However on the TRBO I dont , I have a s7 signal strong but AOR just scans by though it has been a voice ch also.
Anyone else notice this.
So I guess with TRBO the CC channel can be and is also a voice ch?
Not sure with NXDN?

I found programming a P25 Phase l trunked system, locking out data channel, and lowering squelch, I'm able to receive perfectly, with s7 signal strength. Very acceptable for me.
