April 8th, still not got it back, no emails back after emailing to check to see if I could get a estimate when I may get it back. Just a small update to those who may buy an export unblocked version here in the united states , and has to have it sent for repairs overseas. I sent it Jan 26 2016, it arrived there bout a week later according to tracking number. Hopefully soon. I miss my aor ar-dv1

That's a damn shame--- let that serve as a warning to those who are buying the non-U.S. version from unauthorized AOR dealers. Have you tried contacting AOR in Japan to find out what is going on with your radio? My guess is the dealer you bought it from is in Hong Kong, and they in turn shipped it to AOR in Japan for repair.

If you bought your radio through Amazon, I would also notify them of the problems you are having getting it repaired.

I've been encouraging folks to stick with authorized U.S. dealers, but I will contact AOR in Torrance, CA, in the early part of next week to make certain that they are actually repairing those radios here in the U.S. I want to make sure that they do not return them to Asia as well. I will report back here once I get confirmation, one way or another.

I got mine from ebay. Wanted the voice inversion thing that exports have that the us version doesn't. I was told by the dealer to send to wealty electronics in hong kong. Hopefully soon i get mine back. Maybe they had to order a new part from aor before it could be fixed, naybe its got something to do with the rumored spring upgrade of 6.25 ndxn and phase ii. (Those 2 are rumors, and still not confirmed add ons to the ar-dv1 , far as i know. But theres, been no update since January, so still could be possible )

Yep, if you want the voice inversion, you have to go to a dealer outside of the United States. The reason I had mentioned Amazon is that some folks thought they were getting the U.S. version, when in fact, those units had also come from dealers outside of the U.S. (at least as of this writing), and are not covered by the U.S. warranty. Well, you've certainly got more patience than me. Hope you get it back soon---- and as always, please keep us posted here.

I imagine then that you do have agencies in your area which use voice inversion at this time ? Did you have a chance to successfully utilize that function before you had to send your radio back to Asia?

If in fact that is the case (and also for folks who outside of the United States and are also using the "unlocked" version of the radio), I would be very interested in any reports of the utilization of Jeff Marlboro's "eSPYonARDVI" software program for the DV1 which claims to not only provide for the analog function, but also for digital voice inversion operation as well.

Admittedly, I am not conversant with the techniques employed by either the radio or by Jeff's software to be able to fully comment on its application, but apparently somehow Jeff was able to get the manipulate his software to provide for digital as well as analog operation regarding voice inversion.

Once you get your radio back dudekindjack, you might want to investigate further. You can find some information on Jeff's webpage here:

If anyone has to send their ar-dv1 form repairs, do not send to wealthy electronics ltd.
Wealthy Electronics Ltd
They are horrible at communications. Sent 3 emails, got no reply each time to each email.

I'm sure there is people following my situation, and if you have to send your radio for repairs, make sure the company you send too hs a good reputation, and is a qualified service station.

I sent my radio out to them in janurary, and at this point , I don't even know if I'll get it back.

I've not tried to call, I don't know if they do bot speak English or not due to it being in Hong kong, and English is only language I know. I do not know anyone who speaks any other language besides english. I've only emailed them , but have sent 3 to 4 emails so far. I'm afraid I may of lost my radio.

This was my first, and possibly lat purchase of an AOR radio, if they ain't made better then one I had. That tuning knob always did feel cheap made, since the first day I got it. Wasnt a good feel like my icom 746 and the 706mk2g I owned before was.

Just a word of advice . I looked at there website as per your link it appears to be in english.

If you are worried about the price of the call just buy a phone card and do it that way.

I would not be so quick just to give up.

Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

As a frequent visitor to Hong Kong, I can tell you that 90 percent of the population speak English exceptionally well, others speak enough of it to get the message across. Don't forget that Hong Kong was once a British protectorate. The other language spoken is Cantonese, you may or may not have any luck finding someone who speaks it.

Thank goodness it's finally back. And I'm glad they were able to fix the problem, but nearly six months is really too long for anybody to have to wait to have a repair job done.

For those looking at the DV1, this serves as a reminder that if you live here in the states and buy your radio from an unauthorized third-part dealer, and it is the "unblocked" (non-U.S. version), the AOR repair facility in Torrance California will not touch your radio, and it has to end up going to Japan.

Those in the states interested in the radio, it's worth paying a few extra bucks and buying the U.S. version from an authorized U.S. dealer. You can call AOR in Torrance California and they will provide a listing of dealers in the United States currently authorized to sell their product. You do give up the cellular band (nothing much to hear on there anyway), and you give up the Voice Inversion descrambler, but at least you get a radio that can be repaired here in the United States.

A very good reminder if buying non blocked version. I had send mine to hong kong. As you csn see, my turn around time was awful. I read here on this board you can sent to japan, but turn around isnt near as long, but you will have pay a repair charge plus shipping.
Im lucky i had no repair bill, but i was out almost $70 for shipping.

Guess I have been lucky never had a problem with an AOR that i had to send in for repair. Got my first AR3k in 1992. Do the DV1s have that many problems?

This is first aor I've ever owned the I know of. I don't think I've owned any other aor stuff before.

My tuning knob was out, I wa tuning very very weird, for example , I could go from 18 to 11 mhz in a matter of seconds, just wiggling the knob back and foward would do it also.
I don't know of many problems with the aor ar-dv1 but I a tuning knob issue with mine for some reason.
