Arc246 + ftdi + winxp

Hi,
I've been trying to get the following combination to work with no luck.

WindowsXP virtual and a physical machine, Valley Enterprises USB1 with FTDI chip, and the Butel ARC246 software. I installed drivers, followed the documentation, click connect and the keypad locks (screen says remote mode) on my BC246T. The software then shows an error message saying it can not connect. I've had the same results using Freescan. I did manage to update the firmware using the Uniden BC_VUP software but that's all the success I've had.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

While you didn't say, I suspect you are running linux (lucky guess ::wink This info may help with the answer

Just wanted to provide an update. Everything works if I bend the cable upward toward the face of the scanner. I looked closer at the cable ends, it appears I may have received a used cable. I'm in contact with Valley Enterprises, they are working with me on the issue.
