Sometimes No News Is Good News
All has gone very quiet on the Forum since 2017 arrived.
Hope you all had a good Christmas, and the New Year fulfils your hopes and dreams.
I have been aware AOR are working on their next firmware update for the AR-DV1, since last December, but I have no details.
I would imagine they are putting a bit more time looking for side effects that can so often happen when adding or amending something in one place. In any case eSPYonARD has background routines which correct most of the few current firmware anomalies.
Anyone contemplating buying an AR-DV1 should not be put off because the last few updates have resulted in a few minor problems. That is to be expected with any radio that requires such complex firmware, and AOR have demonstrated that they are committed to the receiver, as they should be.
Even after more than a year working with the AR-DV1, I am still amazed at its versatility, and capabilities, all in such a small footprint too.
Currently, as far as I am aware, its only rival may be the Icom R8600, which seems to be taking an age to appear, and the price is still unknown. At the moment the pre-release information does not indicate it will be quite as versatile as the AR-DV1 re digitial modes, and as interesting as it looks, it will be too big to double as a base and mobile receiver, whereas the AR-DV1 is so compact, it does.
No updates required for eSPYonARD. Not that I am losing interest in the project, lol, just that after 14 months of solid work on it, and as some of you will know adding lots of functions to the AR-DV1 it does not have without it, at present I have gone about as far as I can go.
As and when any new firmware is released I will be busy testing again, no doubt, and will post when necessary.
Who knows we may even get some new modes in 2017.
Cheers
