To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello All
I configured four channels in Astro 5000 and every channel has its own personality and every personality has its own call and even talkgroup and everything looks good , but when I call in the channel 1 from one device to another , that's good , but when I change the channel to 2 in one device and the another device is still at channel one , I press PTT in one device the another responds as if there is no separation between channels. what is the problem and where and what should I do ?

Any help will be most appreciated

Astro 5000 is not a radio model. Without knowing the radio you are using you could be using an Astro Saber, Astro Spectra, Astro Spectra Plus, XTS5000 (probably more likely) or an XTL5000 (also more likely).

Your issue is likely the fact it doesn't appear you haven't assigned the personalities to channels in the Zone Channel assignments nor have you entered in a frequency. Also, the talk group programming can be a little screwy and you'll see things such as the default talk group acting as an all call.

First of all, thank you for your response.

Second and for radio model , it's portable Astro XTS5000 .

For personalities assignment in the Zone Channel Assignment and Frequencies , sure I did that and here is an attachment of that.
For Talkgroup , I tried with them and without them and the result is the same.

I want to tell you that the process of communication depends on the individual ID that is set in Astro System , it's shown in every PTT pressing and in any channel. Then what's the functions of Call ID and Talkgroup ID?
I hope you understand me and thank you again.

It there to provide different options for traffic segregation. The CAI has the talk group options present primarily for trunking operations but it can be used in a conventional setup. It's far easier to just switch NACs however (back to the default TGID issue that breaks the function) which typically requires the repeater be configured for it.

If you are trying to perform radio to radio calls, there is a feature for that if you input the call list information and enable call in the menu options. of the radio.

Do you mean I can Configure different NACs in the Repeater and use them in channels?
I just find only one NAC for TX and one for RX .
Is only one channel set for repeater or more than one that I don't think?
What do you mean by default TGID ?
There is TAlkgroup ID inside Astro System label under Individual ID but It's not activated. or maybe I don't understand you ...

Default talkgroup ID is 1.

You can configure different NACs if the repeater is setup for multi-NAC or F7F operation.

Lets start out with this. What are you trying to accomplish? When you change channel you only talk to one other user? Or are you trying to do something else?

Be sure there's only one NAC in repeater channel.

I'm not talking about two users , I want to make four groups for four departments like I do in MotoTrbo, in each group at least 10 to 20 devices.

Should be along the lines of Conventional>Astro Systems>Astro Talkgroup List, add talkgroups.

Conventional>Conventional Personality>Astro TG Options: enable talk group, set to strapped, select appropriate TG list and appropriate TG ID (which is numbered interms of the list not the actual ID). And applying it all.

Many thanks for you bro, I really appreciated your help with NACs that must be different for each channel .. In fact , and in first I was surprised how to make different NACs in one repeater channel.
But I tried to make four repeater channels with different NACs and set them in radios channel and that really succeeded.
Many thanks again and again...…..

That I believe is an encryption related setting (radio has to be enabled with applicable software/hardware present and the keys loaded in).
