Is Atlanta's APCO P25 supposed to be difficult to pick up? Downloading from RR to uniden and pro106 scanners and reception is no good. Been playing around with the XT settings with no luck. Location is buckhead. Unitrunker shows some decent traffic, with a control channel that may bounce around a little. any tricks of the trade? band plan looks right. can't figure it.

I find the Atlanta system comes in crappy from time to time depending on where I'm at. If you’re outside the 285 beltway, it's really going to come through poorly. Your radio is most likely configured correctly. Atlanta’s P25 is a Simulcast systems and all scanners do poorly tracking them.

I live north of 285 by 5 or 6 miles. I have the Atlanta P25 system programmed in my 106 and like most have trouble getting most of the transmissions. I did an Analyze on the 106 over several days. It typically bounced from 52% to 77% on decode success. Could make out the 70% and above days fairly well but any lower they became pretty unintelligible.

As an aside, I also tested the RS 800 Mhz antenna over the stock one with this. It did boost the decode percentage from 5-10 % so it does work as advertised and does help.

Ah, it's the interference in the concrete jungle. Outside on the streets reception is pretty good. Almost no digital decode inside the hotel room, somewhat better in the hallways and lobby, pretty good on the street and a lot better a block away from the tall buildings. i thought reception would be okay next to the window, but its not so gotta walk. Thanks for your input!
