I'm in Rogers tonight and 854.2125 shows site nac 184 which makes sense for the Fayetteville Simo site, BUT it reports as site 10, not 4. Not strong enuf for Pro96Com. Hmmm....

Nice catch. I can confirm it's site 10, monitoring via DSD+Fastlane. The neighbors need to be updated in the database, too, so I'll submit it.

Faulkner County likes to shift talk groups around periodically. Sheriff Dispatch and Sheriff Tactical 2 swapped TGs: Sheriff Dispatch is now 19404 and Sheriff Tactical 2 is 19402. Submitted to RRDB.

LR Simo oddities:
Had a quick trip to Little Rock, not much time, and only 1 scanner (!)
LR Simo SIte NAC 185 showed up on several freqs including:
855.1875
857.2875
which are both licensed to Entergy. Found Entergy site NAC 640 on 855.5375 & 854.6875 which are licensed to LR.
Wonder why the AWIN SIte NAC shows on a freq licensed to ENtergy? (leased?)
Or was my SDS200 giving false info (rare but feasible)

Also could not see any other site NACs, perhaps East Little Rock site is also using 185? (I wanted to add the E LR Site NAC, but could not see anything on that site's freqs)
Any LR scanner peeps able to verify?
thanks

Just an update for the Vilonia PD question. They are on the AWIN system full time with the Talk group 53792 utilizing Phase 2 voice.
The VHF DMR repeater will be used as a backup in the event that AWIN goes down.
Submission into the RRDB was done.

I was not aware that AWIN shares frequencies with the Shelby County/Memphis TN Simulcast system until yesterday. I went to Memphis for a doctor appointment and got around the west Memphis area and started seeing strange talkgroups show up. I was scribbling them down getting ready to submit them to the DB when I figured out after I was in Northeast Memphis and still hearing them that what I was hearing was actually Memphis Fire, Memphis PD, Shelby County Sheriff's Office and Shelby County School Security. I did some digging into their info on the database and the Talkgroups matched up perfectly. They use a frequency in their system that's 851.23125. I was picking it up on 851.2375 I think it was. Either way, it was odd changing states and the radio never being out of range. I just wanted to share that but if information for some who may not be aware.

Per AWIN EMail:
At the direction of the AICEC, 12 new Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) talkgroups have been established to correlate with the 12 ASP troop boundaries, A-L.

These talkgroups are only to be programmed into dispatch consoles, backup dispatch portable radios, and tactical dispatch equipment. The goal for these talkgroups is to provide quick, direct communications between dispatch personnel without interruptions from the field.

Be on the lookout for these new TGs and submit when you see the TG #
Thanks

They also clarified that MAC5 TG 2611 may be used for brief interop conversations WITHOUT a specific ADEM assignment.
Thus it is worth including in your scanlists!

Saw that and found that interesting about MAC5. Guess it makes sense, though. Until two agencies in different parts of the state try to use at the same time. Maybe that won't happen.

Is there somewhere to sign up for these emails from AWIN or is that a special thing that only certain folks can get in on ?

It is public on their website so I assume anyone can get them. I do and I'm not affiliated with them in any way.

Below is a table of CC frequencies for the Memphis/Shelby County P25 system that are also in the AWIN system as either CC's or VC's

I bet you had a Troop C VC 859.4625 - Randolph Co. in your radio and it saw it as a CC when you got close to Memphis.

I'm getting hits due to 858.9375, 859.9375 & - Oakland in Jackson Co. & 853.9375 - Iron Mtn in Stone Co. since I have them programmed in for Troop B

No sharing going on, probably just poor frequency coordination that only affects us scanner users.

9375 is what I was hearing, I'm pretty sure.

I believe I found a typo in AWIN Benton County Siloam Springs Schools. It appears the 1 and 4 are transposed. Should it be 3149?

From the Monthly AWIN email - available to all.
Look for 7x5=35 new TGs for the schools:

AWIN, BDAs, and the Garland County Schools: A Success Story

Garland County recently brought their school district onto AWIN full-time, a tremendous undertaking that began with a meticulous communications plan and now a successful buildout of their BDA project. AWIN reached out to Bo Robertson, Director of Emergency Management for Garland County, for details. Bo was kind enough to share the story.

BO ROBERTSON:
The School AWIN project began in January 2023 as Garland County submitted an AWIN application on behalf of our seven public school districts that would initially allow each district to have 5 talkgroups. This application was submitted with the support of all seven school districts and the City of Hot Springs. With all public schools in Garland County creating their own, legislatively-approved school police departments, it only made sense to unify and align our schools’ communications with that of other Garland County First Responder organizations.

With a successful AWIN application now complete, our focus shifted to ensuring there is adequate AWIN coverage within these critical facilities. In order to maximize the capabilities of the schools new communications platform, it was quickly determined that bi-directional amplifiers (BDAs) /Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) were needed to provide the in-building coverage necessary for school police departments to perform their duties at a high, public-safety level.

During the spring of 2024, Garland County worked with Motorola to assess the communication shortfalls for each district and established a plan of coverage. This plan would be the initial foundation for a project that will not only improve the day-to-day operations for the schools but also solidifies that all Garland County First Responders (LE, Fire, EMS) will have AWIN coverage inside of school district facilities; thus raising the bar of School Safety in Garland County.

Garland County Judge Darryl Mahoney recognized the benefit of having ample AWIN coverage in all of our Public School facilities and through an excellent working relationship with our School Superintendents, he was able to create and establish a local “Garland County School BDA Grant” that lessens the financial burden this project would have for our schools. The Garland County School BDA Grant allows Garland County to pay for up to 75% of the total cost of BDA/DAS installation while the districts are responsible for 25% of their respective BDA/DAS buildouts. This grant was very well-received by our school districts.

Overall, this project improves school safety because it allows for communications to all first responder entities at our public schools while simultaneously affording school personnel the ability to communicate and coordinate with first responders and other school districts. These improvements are necessary as the Garland County 911 Communications Center continues to work with our school police departments to test their communications while also establishing a pathway to provide dispatching services for the districts’ police departments. This will be a welcomed growth and expansion within our County 911 Communications Center.

So far, we have completed the BDA build-out at Jessieville Schools. Jessieville went first because they had the lowest overall RSSI due to their location in northern Garland County. Jessieville also experienced a direct hit from an EF-1 tornado on January 2, 2023 that highlighted the need to have interoperable communications with our schools. During the tornado, AWIN RSSI levels were generally 40-55 outside the buildings and throughout the campus. In-building coverage was non-existent.

Currently with the completion of the BDA buildout for Jessieville, RSSI levels have yet to drop below 90 anywhere on the schools campus. The interior RSSI is even stronger with levels regularly achieving 120-175 RSSI. This is a high-level of success that we are confident will continue as the other districts are brought onto the system.
