There is another excellent option out there that is both light weight and has excellent battery life....

But very limited for the cost

Certainly no more limited than an expensive APX....and a while lot less expensive.

It all come down to one person's needs vs. others...

Anyone who thinks they're going to get everything they need in one specific radio of any type is simply kidding themselves.

Sure but since this is a Uniden Forum no one really cares

Yes, like troy stated, the battery lasts a good long time on that unit and does well on phase 2 tdma
The new sds100 battery does not even come close to what troy observed

I sensed a veiled comment so I wanted to clarify, As far as the different radios the apx 7000 is best for me because I can crank the volume up on the APX and hear it in any conditions I'm in which are usually pretty noisy. It is incredibly loud. In my business I can't afford missed Transmissions and this is the dedicated radio the county uses. The reason I expect what I expect from the SDS 100 is... Because it says it on the box, the manual and the ads. I'd like to monitor a P2 TG and a smartzone TG from a different system, a hybrid analog trunk system TG and a UHF repeater Channel and several VHF simplex channels all at once without missing any Transmissions other than when someone is talking, that you can't help but with this unit NO ONE could be talking while scanning those objects and it will scan through whole conversations on the P2 TG. If I sit on one P2 700 megahertz TG with a long system hold time set, the SDS 100 does not miss Transmissions but I am unable to scan any other system or frequency because of the long system hold. I think it's realistic to expect the SDS 100 battery should last 8 hours with this new battery. It obviously has to be a big battery to do that even though I don't understand why. Sorry I can't defend products because of loyalty to a brand name or Corporation and it's Representatives, I care about the green pieces of paper with dead presidents on them that I spend and the radio doing the job. LOL. Let's hope the battery comes by the end of the year and there are future FW to make the radio work better.

As always someone asks about a battery and now we have to hear about motorola commercial radios vs etc. Or commercial pagers vs etc. Know back to the topic at hand I am patiently waiting for the extended battery. I am sure it will be coming along.

I wonder how many people will have strange batteries show up in their mail boxes and wonder what it's for.

<sigh>... to stay inline here in the tavern, as I had said, now that August has come and gone, it would be a good idea for Paul or someone from Uniden to comment on the nip it in the bud thread about the battery and maybe set another Target date down the line. Sounds like a fair idea to me and it will cut down on all of the threads complaining about the subject and inevitably going off topic. As I said in my last post after I responded to a comment that was made, let's hope the battery comes by the end of the year. You know it would make a great stocking stuffer. I'm sure everybody who gets the battery will know exactly what it is and will be waiting for it because they had the slip of paper in the Box and registered the product to make sure they got it. It is a nice gesture for Uniden to make when they actually make it.

Just keep in mind Paul may be out of the loop due to his medical issues, he's pretty good at answering when he can, and the jabs were not at you promise.

Yes... That is why I first said someone from Uniden. When I repeated it I said Paul or someone from Uniden. I have no doubt that Paul's situation probably is contributing to the situation, I personally don't know as I am certainly not in the loop. I understand a lot of this community is very loyal to the Corporation, it's a concept I've really never understood but I support them with large sums of my money. There are also people who are newbies or not so connected in this community who are making complaints in other threads. There are also other people that still remember past problems with Promises with Uniden (so quickly we forget) so it would make sense for someone to just make an announcement reinforcing the initial gesture made on the nip it in the bud thread with a new timeline.

That large battery is extremely sexy.

I hear the new Whistler scanners are going to cure cancer.

Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on Uniden.

How many times are you people going to do the same thing, spend good money, and expect a different outcome? As was aptly stated, These things are toys.
