At this point, I am beyond pissed. I purchased this scanner the day it became available to pre-order. Received it on June 8 with a statement saying that upgraded batteries will be sent no later than August. IT IS SEPTEMBER 28. I HAVE NO NEW BATTERY. I am sick and tired of being given false promises from Uniden, i.e. the Siren App. The fact that new units are being sold with the new battery makes it even worse, if you don't want to send me the battery, then send me the new unit with the new battery and you can have this ONE back!! Oh and my address has always been correct

Interesting my notice did not say anything about August. It was said on these forums that August was a possibility that is all.

The note may not have said August but you have to admit 4 months is a long time to wait for the production of a battery. My patience is wearing thin.

That's about 112 days ago and if you charged your battery twice a day that's about 224 charges. And if you factor in about 4hours per charge that's 896 hours. A lot of wear and tear since those charge hours were in scanner charging.

Anybody miss those AA's ?

Don't own one yet but if I bought a new sds100 tomorrow does it come with the extended battery? Thanks
Assuming it's not an 'early production' unit that was buried on some dealer's back shelf, the units shipping now do have the larger battery.

The scanners are made in Viet Nam but the batteries are made in China by the Hung Chow 24-Hour Laundry and Battery Company (?). The new larger battery came in the very late stages of design so I suspect it's taken some time to switch over and then ramp up production.

If Uniden says you'll get a battery, you'll get a battery.

I read the forums everyday. I find it amusing that people are pounding the war drums over a battery. Not getting my upgraded battery ranks right up there with the expired protein bar I got out of the vending machine at work. I ate it and went on. The battery will show up sooner or later. Love my SDS 100.

There are definitely things about them i miss... I miss having a (set of) batteries fully charged, ready to swap in to the scanner at any given time. I miss being able to charge my scanners batteries outside of the scanner on a stand alone charger, while me and the scanner are out of the house.. And although i didn't do it often, i miss having the option to use a charger that fully charges the batteries in 15 minutes..

I miss the technology that only required crystals. The original "Plug 'n' Go."

In all fairness.... the notification of the free battery, when available, didn't say "around August 2018"...

The "around August" date is referring to the original announcement from Uniden (which has since been amended with an unknown delivery date as mentioned above.:

all first adopters with the "standard" battery will get a free extended battery+battery door once they are available, around August.
