Ok so I am playing with a BC246T. I got AR246 which so far as I can tell is a must for programming this little power packed scanner. Course anything with ALPHA capabilities is a ton easier with software. ;)

Ok so I am at the learning stage of the memory usage and allocation.

Ok while programming the scanner in the software I notice that each system has 50 memory slots for frequencies and I don't see how I can adjust that. So unless I missed something (which is entirely possible) it would seem that 1600 channels divide by 50 equals 32 systems(banks) yet the system(bank) limit is 200. So is the scanner adjusting the amount of memory usage for each system and the software just defaults to 50 memory slots?

Ok now about groups; I am programming several systems that are using the exact same groups as they are the same physical system just different tower sites for the system. Is there a way to make groups part of an overall physical system yet associate with multiple systems in the scanner without using the memory loctaions in each system?

Also, and entirely unrelated, is there a way to reduce the volume of the end of communication beep? Although my Pro-95 also does this the beep is less pronounced on the GRE scanner while it is almost annoying on the BC246T.

I monitoring an EDACS wide system in Washoe County Nevada.

BTW, except for rumors of digital comming our way this is a killer scanner and I would buy it in a heartbeat.

The Uniden UASD lets you add as many channels as you need. You first need to stop thinking in terms of banks.

Nope. You will have to copy the system and change the frequencies.

If you can hear the beeps you may not be in trunking mode. Make sure it's programmed as an EDACS system.

Thanks Joe, but it is definately in EDACS trunking mode if it wasn't I'd hear 3 or 4 beeps and it's only one beep, like an unkey beep. My Pro-95 does the same beep but the volume, frequency or tone of the beep is less annoying. ;)

Yeah must forget banks......

Thanks again.

Okay open up your ARC246 software to the full screen version....Then you will see two buttons marked C+ and C- that will adjust your channels. Also if you only use 10 channels in a group the software only loads those 10 channels, not the empty ones.

In ARC246 you can change the number of channels per group, select SETUP and use Increase/Decrease option or use the C+ or C- buttons in the toolbar.
But ARC246 will not send empty channels to the scanner so empty channels will not waste memory in the scanner.

Thanks guys!

I can see the -C +C a-ok on the Group side but not on the System Frequency side. But Gommert's response of not sending empty channels (presumably this includes frequencies) answered my question.

Thanks again!
