Need help in programing a NXDN frequency into my scanner. I have a friend who has helped me program a frequency into the 996P2 put I am having problems of it stopping on the frequency and hearing it. The frequency just goes by and does not stop on the freq. and I know they are saying something as I can hear them on my phone. We have put everything in and it does not work, but if I stop it on that freq. you can hear them talk but hit scan and you do not hear them as they do not stop on their freq. Yes it is unlocked . Here is the info: Uniden BCD996P2 , I have all the upgrades in the scanner for all this to work When my friend's scanner goes to the freq. it works and we have done the same as we have the same scanner. It's a ambulance service in NXDN and it has a "RAN" number of 1.

Now I have it in with conventional freqs. will it work with them as the Ambulance services is a NXDN ?
Any help or what am I doing wrong. Iam a local Western New Yorker.

The town he is located in is Tonawanda, New York... Thats in Erie county...
This is the only NXDN Amb service I see in Erie County...

I have put it into my scanner Uniden BCD996P2 and when it is scanning it will not stop on the Frequency and it is not locked out to my knowledge. But if I stop the scanner on the freq. I can hear them (TCA). I have put in all the correct stuff put to no avail I hear nothing, what am I doing wrong.

Sounds like you don't have Quick Keys assigned AND enabled. Do you?

Here is how to determine your firmware version: Press the Menu button on the scanner and turn the Scroll Knob one click to the left. You should be on Settings. Press E. Turn the Scroll Knob one click to the left. You should be on See Scanner Info Press E. Scroll to Firmware Version. Press E. The latest firmware version is 1.08.01. Let us know what version you have. Press the SCAN/SEARCH button twice to exit the menu.

Looks like NXDN wasn't supported until 1.08.00...
How could you enter the key?... If he even puchased one...
You did purchase the NXDN key didn't you?

He has the latest version. NXDN is in his scanner firmware.

the scanner is not stopping on the freq in question is because it is not recieving enough signal to overide the squelch setting as it scans so i would try lowering the squelch setting and see if that helps.

The squelch setting for the whole radio or for the freq. I want to listen to in the program. ?
