Haven't owned the 325p2 for very long, but mine works OK on the batteries that it came with or Energizers bought at Walmart.

Always charge them outside the radio.

True, the BCD325P2 could use a longer playing time before recharging or replacing the batteries. But I believe you can charge the rechargable batteries while still in the radio.

The SDS100 can be worn while hanging off the belt but I find only when used in conjunction with suspenders! Best to use a shoulder strap attached to a hard leather case. (The hard leather case I have from Scanner Master offers needs to have eyelets attached to the case so a shoulder strap can be attached. You can also check into tactical vests or radio vests that allow for hands free use.

A keypad lock would be nice on the SDS100 but until Uniden offers one, we just learn how to handle the radio without touching the keypad. Hang a bell on a cat’s collar to get them to stop catching birds and soon the cat will adapt to moving in such a way the bell doesn’t ring out a warning. We have to be cat-like with the radio.
When I still had my BCD325p2, I had rechargeable batteries in it. I also had a USB cable connecting it to the PC. Lastly, I had a separate battery re-charger, along with extra re-chargeable batteries. Even though I sold my BCD325p2. I can still use those same batteries in my BCD436HP. I have a re-charger with a spare 'brick'. For my SDS100.

Well I Thought I'd take a chance , so I changed my mind, Got the 325P2
Had it custom programmed so I can listen to Sheriff , EMS / Fire , Police N or S ,
State HP , independently - depending on where I am in or out of town . The
Radio performs great , Cased of Course, and so glad NI-MH could be charged
without constantly removing & reinserting batteries. AH , the batteries............
I First loaded it with Rechargable 3300 mah Li-ions . " BATTERY ERROR"
I'm thinkin YIKES It wont recharge in the case ,,,, so inserted NI-MH 2800s
I had around and got a normal charging indication , Great, so all's good .
I Have about 30 3300 li-ion 1.5V here so can always use those in a power failure.
I believe the radio would not charge because it doesn't know the difference
between alkaline , non recharge or recharge li-ions, because they're all 1.5V
so as a safety factor the radio refuses to charge any 1.5V setup. Great lil radio.
First listen was 12 years old on a tunable VHF Juliette 9V battery rig. went thru
the years with every possible scanner made. BUT Things have passed me up
as I have never figured out programming ---wayyy beyond my old school
capabilities, 74 now but still love to listen ...

Lithium-Ions require a different type of charging system than NiMh, thus why the scanner cannot recharge them internally, it’s “dumb” charging system being for NiMh.
and anyway, it tops out at 14 hours recharge time, meaning your 3300mAH would not receive enough current to be 100% recharged in one 14hrs cycle as it is a fixed current flow tailored for the Uniden-provided rechargeables.

I do have Li-ions that I bought for use in my 325P2, but I bought a package of 4 that included a 4 slots charger specially for this chemistry.
I did use them for a while, but came back to Ni-Mh because the Li-Ions did not allow the 325P2 to give an early warning of low battery : they kept the radio running until their last drop, and then poof, the radio was dead without even one beep of low batt.

I suggest keeping NiMh being your main batteries.

I First used the Li-ions and it ran a very long time , then went dead with no beep or
whatever ? What kind of sound does the radio give when NiMh Go Down ?
Yes I know about the 14 hours, it's now halfway thru first recharge on NiMh..
Just glad I dont have to change batteries every 6 or so hours .. Love this little
scanner ..

for too many reasons i charge outside the radio.
depending on what you are listening to, yes it eats batteries pretty quickly.
one problem with rechargeable is that they age and decrease in capacity.
so i try and group them together for a longer running time.
so i hate to say it, get a smart charger, and not a quick charger.
also when i go out with mine a keep 2 extra cells in a pocket.
i will post a charger that is discontinued to give you the idea.
what about this charger or this Charger the second comes with a regular or a quick charger which should i get for my bcd325p2

the first one, you have to recharge in pairs.
at least the second one it is individually charged.
and it is nice to know how much each cell can hold.
as they get older, the capacity goes down.
here is the newer version of the 9000

eventually they get down to "solar light" worthy.
and things run longer if you then pair up the capacities.
(it does not have to be exact)

what do u mean by solar light worthy?

and what do u mean by pair up the capacities?

I'm looking to get the best batteries and charger i can . but the one u just sent is kinda expensive for just a charger. what do u think of These
and do u think they could be put in a charger as well as charging them individually ?

solar batteries can be as low as 600maH and run for some time. when my 2500 cells get to 1200 they go to the solar light pile.
having 2500 cells and they get to 1600 to 2000 for some in a year of everyday use.
but pairing a 1600 with a better 2500 the 1600 will drain fast and then you are out of power, or get to like the beeps of low battery.
a good charger will charge individually, stop when the cell if full, stop if the cell gets hot, and you can set it to check the amount of power.

living in Florida and at the time not having a steady job, i still paid $70 for the 9000.
i would rather loose a $70 charger than a $500 radio (396T) due to lightning.

What do u mean whywould u loose the radio if lightening his ur charger. wouldn't the radio not be connected to the charger but only the batteries would be in the charger>?

ok,
the 325 uses 2 cells, so the run time is not that great.
so many (me) take 2 extras in a pocket when going out.
keys in one pocket, batteries in the other.
there are no real 'best' as everyone has an opinion.
no, you can't hurt the radio with any AA's, they are basically the same.
the ones you posted look like the ones it comes with, so no problem.
