i went to the firmware page for the bcd325 and was unable to update my radio. for the second q will my 325 show 4 or 5 numbers like 774.8312/774.83125 when it's scanning

It's normal to show 4 numbers after the decimal point while scanning.

If the firmware is the same version then it won't update anything. The display only shows 4 digits after the decimal. No way around that.

That's definitely an older version. You probably didn't install the driver for the scanner.

The display may not give more than 4 digits to the right of the decimal point but you can program the entire frequency Along with the name of the channel. You may have to abbreviate the name but at least that way you can see the fifth digit.
