I had a 396 scanner. The display on it was horrible with the blue color. Was there a way to change the display color to the easier to see Orange that most use now or was Blue the only color. I even tried the contrast to no avail.

With the 996t, repeated pressing of the volume dial/button changes the screen color.

Oops, just checked the RR Wiki, looks like it stays blue, had one once, never noticed, lol.

You could have any color you wanted, as long as it was Blue.
