I think it was fxdscon that mentioned that you will always have the latest downloaded firmware file in your C: drive if you go to Users/All Users/Uniden/BCDx36HP/Updater. So if you didn't manage to catch it from the SD card before it was deleted you should find it on your C: drive.
All firmware are always backward compatible with old hardware so it is something else going on with your 1.28 firmware. Maybe the file on Unidens server are corrupt? Uniden have several duplicated severs to spread the load when thousands of users tries to upgrade at the same time and one server that are used for your IP range might have the issue, and it probably syncs between servers at regular intervals so perhaps it will work for you to upgrade if you wait a week.
