Just got my BCD436HP yesterday. I owned the BCD396XT before this and have a few questions related to the 396.

After entering the zip code and loading all of the local channels. How do I then go through and manually edit that system the way you could on the 396.

For example: Living in Denver, I would like to L/O the Boulder County channels and the Coors Field channels. with the 396 you would go the system (I believe it was called for an entire area) and then lock those out or simply delete them from that group. You could also change the notification sounds and scene color as a way to let you know easily what channel you were on when it stopped on it.

Also, how do I add the CB channels to a group? For some reason I can't yet find these things the way I am used to and honest, even though I have written some, I am having a hard time just looking these things up with the new manual.

Thanks,
Jim

Also, where is the choice to scan HAM Radio, Railroad, Weather, CB, Emergency, etc?

Thanks!

Or, while listening, avoid stuff you don't want to receive again by tapping the right side of the system (if avoiding system) department (if avoiding department) or channel (if avoiding channel) bar and select Avoid, then select Permanent. If you go a while w/o having to avoid anything, in the scanner menu you can make a Favorites List from the current selection by:

MENU --> Manage Favorites --> New Favorites List --> Add Current dB Channels
(Then, I'd Rename to make the FL name more relevant)

and then select only that Favorites List to scan from by:

MENU --> Set Scan Selection --> Select Lists to Monitor --> turn off Full Database and turn on your FL

Note, though, that if you don't add the "Service" systems from the National Database to your FL, those won't be scanned unless Full Database is enabled.

Thanks for the help! I did not have Windows loaded on my mac but decided this would have to be the last straw to doing it so loading Sentinel has helped a lot so some of these things have been taken care of.

Thanks again!

Heres the one other thing:

I did post this one other place where it is related- http://forums.radioreference.com/uniden-owner-tech-support/303506-how-service-search.html where it has files to download for CBs HAM, Walkie-Talkies, etc.. it fit both spots.. forgive me. :)

Hello,

Thanks for the downloads. They certainly make most of this easier and have much of what I am looking for at the moment. I am having a problem with it though. I download this and load it to the scanner. If I only have this list selected, there is "NOTHING TO SCAN". If I understand correctly you need to have the Nationwide Systems enabled. But then when I do that, many more channels come up.

One note: Using Sentinel I disabled most of the frequencies but hand-held devices (Walkie Talkies, HAM, CBs) but am still getting signals from local Ambulances, Public Safety, etc.

The only lists selected to be used in SELECT LISTS TO MONITOR are the full database and CB radio.

To a degree, I see using the full database would load everything, but if that's the case, how do you possible only use the channels in one when you have to have FULL DATABASE enabled?

Thanks!
Jim

To simplify it more:

Let's say all you want to hear is the CB channels. After you have those channels loaded and everything else but those channels is that system locked out, and that is the only system enabled, what else has to be setup to hear them and absolutely nothing else?

If you're using the "Service Search" FLs, there are Quick Keys used with them. CB is System Quick Key 3, so for just CB disable the other SQKs. Make sure you have the "OTHER" Service type enabled, too.

You can see the other QK assignments in Sentinel.
