My new BCD996P2 is like its scanning slow or missing transmissions? I have another different brand scanner, with the same program template setting right next to my new BCD996P2 and the BCD996P2 misses almost all the transmissions? It's almost like it's scanning slower?

Do you have one on id scan, other on id search?

Do you have both towers programmed in? Harrison and Lake.

Do you have talkgroups programmed in or just frequencies. I'm guessing talkgroups as your a premium subscriber, but I have seen so many that just put in frequencies only.

Also only program in just the control channels those that are in red/blue.

Before anyone mentions simulcast, Clare county is not simulcast.

That is a little bizarre. My 996 does not have that issue. The only thing I can think of is if you are trying to scan too many sites, or too many conventional objects along with. It has to "sit" on each site for 1.5 seconds before moving onto the next one. Try scanning a single site without any other systems or sites. The is also a P25 error threshold adjustment to try, but I can't remember how to get to it (maybe in the master settings menu?).

Also for your consideration: signal reception. This can be affected by the distance from the transmitter site, antenna, feedline, etc.

I noticed after the channel frequency plan that I just cleaned up alot is "LCN" What is that field used for? All of mine are currently assigned to 0?

Don't worry about the band plan - that is filled in automatically by the control channel. You only have to fill in this field for DMR or NXDN type systems

Cleaned up things I.E. extra channels etc. Still seems like it spends alot of time on my "Conventional" Analog channel bank, almost seems like it scans that bank twice to once for the "Trunked" bank?

There's a real good chance you have it programmed in there more than once, which would cause this problem.

I would delete the programming in the scanner and re-upload it. ONCE.

what he said ^

HOLD is how long the radio sits on a system in seconds (0 zero, is good)
DELAY is how long the radio waits for a reply on a frequency or talkgroup in seconds. (2 is good )

The BCD996P2 works very well for me in Macomb County's simulcast system. It sounds like a programming problem. How many conventional frequencies do you have programmed? What are you using for an antenna?

Thanks looks like that was what was happening It had duplicated the programming and had multiple of the same template. I cleaned out the radio and deleted the duplicates and saved it and reloaded. I guess I'll see if that makes a difference?

I'm using an outside antenna due to rural and still a lot of analog channels. I probably have around 30-40 conventional channels programmed

He pretty much stated that he had his conventional channels in twice.

Edit: looks like that was it. Let's hope so.
Listening to it for the last several minutes it still seems like it's taking way to long to cycle through especially the conventional bank? I'm still missing a lot of trunk traffic? Is there anyway to speed up the scan rate on these? The Whistler I have setting right next to it doesn't seem to miss anything? And the Whistler has the same identical program in it.

This is your issue. 40 channels should only take a half second to scan.

I've got all the delays and holds at zeros other than the trunk at the 2 seconds. I guess we'll see how it responds. Just seems like it scans alot slower than the Whistler does?
