I have looked in the manual and haven't been able to find the info I am looking for. If you set the hold time to 0 in a trunked system, does it still scan through all the talkgroups much like conventional or does it just basically skip over the system?

Right now I have my trunked systems set to 1 second hold time, but it seems that I miss so much with it staying on that system for that amount of time.

Trunking does not work like conventional at all. With trunking, the scanner just sits on the control channel and compares the channel assignments coming across the control channel against the channels you have programmed. The scanner does not "scan" talk groups.

When set to 0, the scanner will hold on the control channel from 1-2 seconds, then move on.
