I was poking in the 700 MHz band and ran across this this signal. It has to be fairly close to me as I can see it with no gain. I know Cornwall is supposed to be getting a new system at some point. Not sure if this is the start of it. There are close frequencies in the TAFL over in QC.

DSD+ is freezing on this system. Not sure what's going on.

My guess is the new NYSP system. I would cross reference those freqs with the FCC database
I checked, didn’t find anything on my brief search of them + state of New York. I don’t see any info about NYSP moving to a new system either… but again, brief search.

It would make sense to be Cornwall’s new system if Aviator is receiving it with zero gain within the city, I think. If it was across the border probably would require a little bump. They had a new system approved and made the deal with Motorola about a year and a half ago.

That's the interesting thing about my geographic area. The signal could be coming from ON, QC, NY, VT. I can see the 1.2 channel with no gain, I have to bump up the gain a bit in order to see 1.3 better. I do not see a signal for any other of the listed frequencies. AFAIK, we were supposed to have a simulcast system here.

My antenna isn't exactly tuned for a 700 MHz frequency. It's a 2 m/70 cm unit 40' up.

I figured out my DSD+ freezing issue, PEBKAC. :D

I just heard Cornwall Fire make some radio transmissions that compared their analog VHF signal coverage in an unknown building to their new digital radio. They said they lost all analog coverage once inside the unknown building and the digital coverage was either solid and clear or non-existent. Not sure how this relates to the OP but it appears something digital is in the works for Cornwall public safety.

Did you hear this on the above listed frequencies or 155.835 MHz, which is the current analog frequency? The new system is supposed to be simulcast and users are supposed to be Fire, Police, Public Works, City Transit.

Thanks for the info.

This site is still around. There isn't really much activity on it. It still aligns with my assumption of our new system. It was supposed to be a simulcast system and have three sites. I only seen one TG before.

Question: What would be the best way to make a new site favorite to add this to my SDS100?

I'm here a lot
Create a new favourite list in Sentinel. Choose P25 system. Leave the Band Plan blank as when the scanner finds the control channel, it will automatically detect it and fill the Band Plan in. Find new site, program all control channels, especially if they are in rotation. Next, program Department, name as you wish. Set ID Search to ON. I always set new systems to 5 Sec Hold Time to give me time to hit Enter if a talkgroup becomes active.

Let me know when it is in use and I will add it to the database.

Added Cornwall to my SDS200. here is the ARC536 file and a importable .hpe for sentinel. Just use the import.hpe option file > Import from .hpe file
