Still no changes I wonder why it is taking so long to get this system up and running?
It is a very weak setup so far at least at Mahwah.

I've been hearing a lot of Hello Testing chatter. Time to fire up some ID software and start monitoring closely.

I have the system programmed into my 996T and only heard a handful tests. They turn the control channel on and off. Still no talkgroups AND still hearing everything on 477.1625 and 477.1875

The integration continues... the County mini bus fleet are all up on channel 13 UHF. It would appear they have left lowband. The new trunk system must be getting close.

No they are on analog channel 13. let's see animal shelter on channel 11 uhf now mini bus & Meals on wheels... That leave Mosquito control & road dept. All the pieces of the puzzle are moving to UHF for when the key is flipped. Oh and since all law enforcement will be encrypted when the key is turned don't bother buying a digital scanner unless you wanna know when your meals on wheels is going to arrive..

That's isn't true about the encryption. I only heard az handful of talkgroups will be encrypted like SWAT, the bomb squad and a couple o=f the detective talkgroups, not the entire system! Don't start spreading rumors

Ok well my info that all law enforcement will be encrypted came from a fire chief whose town is possibly looking into the system and his police chief gave him that info. I find that to be a reliable source. i will bet you a beer now that it will be law enforcement encrypted. The encryption is a selling point to some of the town pd's.

Well I am sure they would love encrypted communications.... until they realize a cost of $1000 more per subscriber for encryption. The $1000 per sub can be more of less, depending on what type of encryption they go with.

I can just hear it now, "Let's see, we can get x number of encrypted radios or y number of non-encrypted".

I'll bet the general concensus is Y :)
Seen it way too often in other systems.

encryption does not have to cost 1000 per subscriber radio, i believe ADP encyrption which is software based is available for about 200$ per portable.

Yes, if you see my post I did say that depending on what type it could cost more or less.

AES256 mutikey would probably be close to $1k per radio more than non-encrypted.
Should be interesting to see which way they go.

When I spoke to Adam about it last week, he broke out into an uncontrollable mix of sobbing and profanity that would make George Carlin blush!

Sounds like major install work occurring now @ the Carlstadt water tower site. might be a whole new tower. BCPD escorting wide load to location. Trunking is coming to a radio near you soon.

That Carlstadt site will or was supose to be part of one of several SOUTH sites with different Freq's; the delay in 'turning on the north sites is the long awaited move to the new dispatch center in Mahwah seems its still being work on; the County Police at the OEM office at now packing to move up there . by this holiday weekend, and with so many vendors - like VERIZON to move and add tie lines fiber etc it is one cluster fxxx
and with several towns pushing the County to move along so they can switch to the new system ....
but it is coming as in old posts its slow

New Tower Up At Stag Hill Mahwah

Just drove north on Route 17 and noticed that the County's new tower is up on Stag Hill in Mahwah. Old tower still there as well; antennas and microwave dishes have not been moved as of yet.

New tower is about the same height, but has more face space.
